Oscar wants Canelo to fight GGG when?
“There’s concern now because Triple-G is a solid middleweight,” De La Hoya said after Canelo’s fight against Kirkland last Saturday. “Canelo can make 154 with no problem. We have to keep in mind that Canelo had been out of the ring before this fight for nine months, and he did make the weight relatively easy. He looked strong, he looked in tremendous shape. So we have to go back to the drawing board and discuss the future plans and decide what weight he feels comfortable with. But eventually he is going to grow into a middleweight, and he is going to fight Triple G when the time is right. In a year and a half to two years down the road, Triple G-Canelo will surpass any kind of number and hype that last week’s fight [Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao], and they will guarantee action. The world knows that Triple G vs. Canelo will be a super mega fight,” De La Hoya said.

    Super Duck!!!
Oscar owes an apology to Floyd and Haymon.

Canelo should not taint his well deserved reputation by such nonsense. Its OK if he never fights GGG since they are not in the same division, but do not try to pull off a Cotto vs Martinez by waiting GGG to get further old. Id lose all respect to him if he listened to this stupid career strategists/business people/sidef@cks and set on a scavenger mode.

He should make 154 if he wants to use the weight excuse.

He has nothing to lose in my eyes same when he fought floyd. GGG imo would stop him mid to late but canelo would give a good account of himself as a slugging mexican warrior going out on his shield and get praise for it in what would be a war. I think he beats most all other middles

He gets some time to get used to and grow into 160 lbs from me. He doesn't have to fight GGG in his first MW fight.

They are in the same division. 155 is officially Middleweight. 154.1- 160 is the Middleweight division.

If he doesn't want to be called out, then he should make 154 and stay there. And you're right, it'd be sad if they wait 2 years for GGG to get old.

This is kind of a duck.

GGG weighs like 1lb more in the ring than Alvarez. They are the same size.

I have no problem making GGG wait til after the money fight with Cotto, but beyond that it's a clear duck because there are no bigger fights out there.

  13. Like Leonard did Hagler and (to some...) Floyd did Pac.
In 2 years GGG will be 36 or 37. Ripe for the picking.
He will be called Gennady "Geriatric" Golo:verysadvkin

Good Business decision, if HBO keeps building up GGG then when it finally happens it could be a mega event. Money Talks.
