So Canelo gets a pass for ducking GGG for the next 2 years??

  1. If this is cool then what was the MAY/PAC fuss about because people were crazy about it. Now it's "business as usual" and "HBO can build it up bigger in a few years"!?!
Ahh... the hate flows deep within some of you guys.

1 or 2 years for a JMW to finally move up and face the most dangerous MW since prime Pavlik and Abraham vs ducking a fighter for 6. Don't be ridiculous, you know the difference.

If he wants to stay at 154, that's his prerogative but they're kidding themselves if they think they can just wait for GGG to get old and get full credit for it, also GGG may not even fight at 160 in 2 years.

We really don't know if 6 years was the plan. Obviously it was a smart business plan either way.

But, the last couple of years have been a necessity to get the event to its maximum level. Pac lost/got screwed to Bradley (however you feel about that fight) and then got knocked out cold. Fighting him immediately after either would have been dumb. Then Pacman needed a year off to recover and then another year or so to get a few fights under his belt and erase the thought of the knockout.

The last 2 1/2 years have been common sense rather than "ducking". The narrative would have been him taking advantage of Pac if he fought him 2 years ago.

I don't think they care because they don't really want the fight.

Why is everyone convinced that the winner "has" to fight GGG. You all new to boxing or something?

WBC made Golovkin diamond mandatory or something.

    And that means what exactly?

How often do sanctioning bodies say one thing, only to do something else? How often are their rules, decisions, and declarations influenced by outside parties?

In other words, who would honestly be surprised if they didn't make another exception if/when the time comes?

theoretically, it means the WBC champ has to fight Golovkin after Geale, even if Geale wins

but you are correct, they can make whatever rules they like, they'd just look very bad on this one if they went back on it

At this point nobody wants to go anywhere near GGG. Fighters making plans for years in the future. The sport in general is more than happy to let GGG rot on the vine during his prime.

I am starting to think GGG should move up and fight Ward, if that can even get done.

Its quite hilarious a boxers future is mapped out for 2 years. Why doensn't ODLH say "We will fight the best guys available". That's what we want to hear, not happing out some roadblock like if Canelo was a business. He's a fighter but they manage these fighters like economic interests. It's understandable but at least don't be so blatantly honest about it.

I didn't like hearing the whole "2 years" talk.

So essentially, they want to wait until Alvarez is 26 and Gennady is 35.
