Finito is largely ignored which is a shame. I really enjoyed his style and watching him fight criminally underrated fighter.

Great fighter to watch, but the division has always been considered one of the weakest in all of boxing.

I mean outside of Calderon and Lopez, who else has can be considered a great fighter at minimum/straw weight??

I can't think of anyone in the division that ended up in the hall of fame outside of those 2 guys (I don't know if Calderon is in yet but should be a sure fire lock for 1st ballot.) FInito had a couple challenges he could've taken on at 108 that could've strengthened the level of competition on his resume a bit, but whatever.

    Skills-wise, the guy was phenomenal.

That one draw ruins everything. Even more so if you consider that he was clearly outboxed and given a hometown decision in that fight.

Now it's pretty weak but during Calderon and Gonzalez ' s reign you had significant competition. Like someone else said Lopez should of tested himself at flyweight to truly test his abilities.

But he didn't retire undefeated. McFarland probably holds the record for longest and complete undefeated record (if one discounts the ND "loss" he suffered early in his career), but Packy was never actually a champion at any point in his storied career.

Weight class is not popular whatsoever.

Mayweather does not fight in a weak era, he has beaten great fighters in 5 weight classes, he is an ATG and his 50-0 will be the best undefeated resume in boxing history

Takayama, Wanheng, Budler, Buitrago, Silvestre and Tanaka are all very good and very different fighters so u wouldn't really call it weak at the moment, just under exposed...

As for it being a division that no one cares about, plenty have tunes into the fights recently, not just on here....nut then again I guess millions of Thai and Japanese fans don't matter, it's only US fans...

As for Lopez wins over Ohashi, Lee, Lucas, Saman, Sanchez, Alvarez and Ratanapol were all a very solid wins.

Becuase he wasn't a black yank that Max Kellerman and co told you was the biggest thing since sliced bread...and never beat anyone who was (hence why he doesn't get load of haters).

It's scary to think what a welter version of Finito might have accomplished.

Finito is under appreciated, but the quality of PBF's resume substantially outweighs that of his.

Lopez being a few ahead numerically means nothing, as he doesn't have even half the quality W's that Mayweather does.

That isn't Lopez's fault really, just the reality of it. The same way that Mayweather's resume will always pale in quality to, say, Leonard's, and there was never anything he could've done about that.

What are you talking about? JCC was 87-0 before he suffered a draw against Whitaker. He was 89-0-1 before he had his first loss. How is Floyd's record better than this?

The problem with a fighter being undefeated is that he never really pushed himself to the max. It's only be losing do you know where the line is. The result is that rather than entertaining the fans, which is what sports is all about, it often results in boring matches where protecting one's "0" is more important than the fans who pay the bills.

How can you make that generalization?
