Hey, GGG has always insisted he can make 154.
He weighs the same as Alvarez, Lara, Trout, and Kirkland (172-174).
Alvarez insists he can make 154.

If GGG can't get Alvarez to come to him, he should just make the fight at 154. Alvarez would be just as drained as he would.

Alvarez is going to be a draw just by virtue of being a Mexican who is promoted by Oscar and good at fighting. He really doesn't need GGG to be a star. He needs GGG to become great.

    Yes.

He pretty much went from 0-100 in no time. On the way up, he was very protected, but that was essentially his amateur career and he's more than made up for it.

That's only if the sanctioning body actually decides to enforce their own rules and not grant another exception. I'm not holding my breath. Cotto has far more political clout than GGG, and the organization will ultimately be more apt to side with Miguel if his would-be opponent is a bigger draw than GGG.

Well, being as he hasn't actually ducked him for the next 2 years at this point, yes, I give him a pass.

Canelo, unlike Golovkin, is taking on top level competition.

    Last 5 fights:

    Kirkland
    Lara
    Angulo
    Mayweather Jr.
    Trout

    With a Cotto bout looming.

What's Gennady's excuse for the tomato cans he's been facing?

*EDIT* was beaten to this comment by another informed poster.

To be fair, Rubio and Murray are better than Angulo and Kirkland. If there were a JMW with Mayweather's talent and box office appeal that wanted to fight Golovkin, he would take the fight in a heartbeat. Trout is better than Geale, but not by a lot. The trump card for Canelo is Lara, Golovkin has nothing to match that.

OP is clearly a moron with an anti-Canelo bias. THe article clearly indicates GGG i on Canelo's careerpath. 1 1/2 - 2 years makes sense since THey will try to marinate the fight. Canelo will probably face Cotto(if cotto doesnt self-destruct) then another fighter in a possible double bill with GGG to build that fight. FIght may take place as early as Sept of next year.

2017 is probably the earliest the fight would happen. It seems pretty obvious to me that Hoya has no interest in matching Alvarez with Golovkin. I wouldn't call that a duck, but that's how I see it.

Fair enough. GGG should take Lara up on his offer.

Canelo will move up and defeat Geale

    Canelo beats shot Cotto

    GGG v Canelo.

Geale isn't going to beat Cotto. He's gonna take a beating.
