It's pretty easy to offer some sort of explanation; how many boxing gyms are there per square mile compared to Liverpool or Manchester? How many trainers per capita?

I'd hazard a guess that there aren't that many in the outlining London boroughs (Harrow / Hillingdon / Ealing / Bexley / Bromley / Barnet) etc. and where boxing was traditionally at its strongest (like Newham / Tower Hamlets / Hackney) the demography has completely changed.

Comparing a city to an entire region??! In any case London is all about money, it's the poor chavs up north who have no option but to seek their fortunes through sports as they do not have the brains/education to make it.

Bull****....I've been in white working class gyms and mixed gyms. Trust me there's no difference, if anything the competition is much better at the heavier weights with massive poles and jamaicans knocking lumps out of each other. The enthusiasm and banter is the same in both gyms and many of the "immigrants" have come from countries with strong boxing traditions.

To put it this way, no immigrants, then no Lennox Lewis, Joe Calzaghe, Nas etc. Even the Kray twins were part Jewish.
