I thought the same w/Mayweather, that was an entertaining fight and a rematch at a new weight class/belt would be a good move I'd think for MW and I'd think Cotto would prefer this over Canelo too.

Virgil said he thinks Floyd won't fight in Sept anyway.

Which is good for khan and canelo - canelo gets his date and khan doesn't have to worry about Ramadan.

Floyd should let canelo have it...let canelo keep building himself and will become a better name to have a UD against on his resume

I doubt it. Just look at the numbers. If you're a cable or satellite provider, would you give the slot to Mayweather or Canelo? Neither Cotto or Canelo have had a big PPV fight without Mayweather. Canelo vs Cotto has the potential to put up really good numbers. Why sabotage that just to try to satisfy Canelo's ego?

Khan wants the fight though? If Floyd fights next year, you'd have to think it will be Pacquiao.

If Floyd fights someone who has yet to fight on PPV, say Khan or Garcia, not to mention his last fight is being heavily scrutinized by the general public for being a dud, why wouldn't Showtime feel threatened if HBO stages probably the number 1 desired fight in the sport on the same night?

Showtime, alledgedly, were unhappy with the numbers for Floyd-Guerrero which is why they pushed for the Canelo fight, and they also were less than satisfied with both the numbers for both the Maidana fights which is why they wanted the Pacquiao matchup.

Again, fighting either Khan or Garcia, both unproven PPV commodities, similar to Guerrero and Maidana in that respect, on it's own merrit, has to be somewhat concerning for Showtime. Coupled with the scenario of having to compete against Canelo-Cotto, two fighters with massive followings and are both proven PPV attractions, it seems obvious that Showtime would have to strongly consider moving the fight date.

Showtime wouldn't feel threatened because they have the top draw in the sport. Again though, it comes down to the cable and satellite providers. If Showitme and HBO both express a desire to stage a PPV fight on the same day, the cable and satellite providers will chose which one to support. I'd be willing to bet they would put their support behind the proven commodity.

It's Oscar behind it not Canelo. He can't stand how well Floyd is doing.

People everywhere still shake their head in disgust when MayPac is mentioned:lol:
Pretty sure Canelo can do well on that date.

I think it's pretty likely the PPV distributors side with Mayweather. They won't ever run 2 PPVs on the same date and the A-side who just smashed every record is more likely to get the benefit of the doubt when they choose which show to pick up.

Mayweather won't take that fight. Too risky, too low of a reward.
