Not even Cotto fresh off a title defense over Geale is going to be enough for Canelo to bump Mayweather off the date.

Hell, the ripest time for it was May with Cotto directly off his much bigger W (on paper) over Martinez and still Mayweather didn't flinch and ended up getting his date.

It took BOTH FLoyd and Pac in the same ring to convince Canelo it would be prudent to move his fight from that date. Floyd does not that an ace in the hole anymore,

    Exactly.

In the eyes of the movers and shakers in Boxing, Mayweather is GOD. Period, end of.

Alvarez needs to keep his mouth shut and hope for the Mayweather rematch..

Delusional. Its Floyd's date and it will stay Floyd's date regardless of who the September fight is against, period.

Good for Canelo, put the pressure on Floyd to pick a good opponent... If he doesn't, I for one will pay to watch Canelo, no doubt.

Canelo should fight Pacquiao then. While Mayweather is fighting Danny Garcia or Shawn Porter. :think

The date is for the taking. Sept is not far off and people may still be shaking their heads at the mere thought of May/Pac and will have to think twice about purchasing another FLoyd fight. Right now Canelo/Kirkland highlight clips on youtube are getting 10X the viewership of Floyd/Pac highlight clips.

I noticed that as well, James Kirkland vs Canelo ko is getting more buzz on youtube/tv than any othe boxing event in recent memory, especially with the younger casual crowd. Aside from May vs Pac ofcurse

LOL hahaha heeeeeeee....! It'll be Floyd's historic record breaking and potentially last bout to be 49 - 0 I'm sure it'll be noooooo competition with Canelo at all.

I know which fight I'll be attending. It's a no brainer. I'll attend Mayweather's bout vs whomever. Like every other true boxing fan.

:rofl at Oscar being mad at being left out of the biggest fight in history. She's upset and trying to get her name back.

This is the same Canelo that stunk up the joint against angulo with like 200k ppv buys. Afterwards a garbage performance and a gift win against Lara. Canelo we still remember you got embarrassed against Mayweather. You and your promoter are losers against him.

It is going to be hilarious when Canelo is having to fight on Sept 19th a week after Mayweather again. What many of you don't realize is the PPV outlets have a say in this also. It isn't just an Oscar, HBO, Showtime, Arum, etc. decision. Mayweather OWNS May and September and has for the past 6 years.

I actually think if Mayweather had taken on a non-Pacquiao opponent and Canelo-Cotto was made like it was intended for May, the distributors still would have sided with Mayweather. After the numbers from the Pacquiao fight however there's no chance that they'll give the date to someone else.

There is ZERO chance Canelo is getting Sept 12. None. Oscar and Canelo can whine and cry all they want but it isn't going to happen.

    Yes and yes.

The carriers dont "like" competing PPV events, and they complain but they also are in no position to refuse. Its not like it costs them much to carry it.

Plus in this day and age.. the day the traditional carriers say "No, sorry HBO we arent carrying your PPV" is the day HBO shrugs and says "Now announcing HBO-Live, watch this $80 PPV event on your Playstation/Roku/AppleTV for only $60" and makes up for breakage via drastically higher margins per buy.
