Why's that? You realize the ref's don't have instant replay or anything like that don't you?

Plus they are human's and prone to errors, but that doesn't equate to corruption.

Against Lewis, Tyson was given a 10 count and the replay showed his knees never touched the canvas.

It happens, get over it. Besides, Vitali was on his way towards getting KO'd anyway. If you want to watch that, watch the last 20 seconds of round 6, Vitali was hanging all over Lewis like a 6'6" octopus.

2.08. Larry Merchant shows again, and explains ( specifically for the benefit of morons ) the PUNCH that causes the cut to Vitali's face.

By the way did you conveniently ignore the enlarged part of my reply which explained that Lewis enforced the rematch clause in the contract to obtain the 2nd fight with Rahman, just so you can keep up your old bollox? Or was it too difficult for you to understand?

I wish Lewis gave Vitali a rematch but can understand why he didn't, he looked shot in that fight, even if he was under prepared. He took a lot more hassle for that at the time, nowadays people just seem to see it as a cut and dry Lewis win. Time is being kind to Lewis's legacy wise and rightly so, but that question with that fight will endue.

I used to be a big fan of Lennox but hearing him talk about his career these days is off putting, he is so up his own backside he might find Froch up there somewhere. I guess he don't care about being liked but being a bit humble wouldn't go a miss in his old age.

The funny thing when it comes to bragging, it works for some people and not others. Ali could call himself the greatest, but when Holmes said it, albeit, more crudely it didn't come across well. With Lewis and Mayweather it doesn't come across well either. Just seems to be a personality thing as much as anything else.

True, I guess you need the charisma, Lennox never really connected to the people in that way. When he says “In a room full of men I would be the last man standing”, it just doesn’t sound great lol. He also brings up the Tyson win as if it means something, he also didn’t exactly handle the Vitali thing very well either, unwillingness to give other boxers credit is a bad quality. I admire the guy but hearing him talk about himself and his legacy makes me wanna hurl.

It's like a guy who is desperate, longing for attention and recognition. I lost all respect for him the way he disrespected Vitali at the post fight interview. The way he talks trash about Tyson is pathetic too.

yeah that interview told the whole story really, you could see Lennox knew he took a beating and was lucky to come out with a win from it, he was so defensive with Merchant. I just don't get why he couldn't have said "wow great fight, props to Vitali for putting up a challenge". He would have come out smelling of roses but he just couldn't do it, I guess other fighters have been guilty of it but his handling stunk to high heaven imo.

No disagreement from me, but on the other hand when they were discussing a rematch, Lewis invited Vitali to his house and they discussed it in person, just them and Lewis' family. And judging by the comments I've heard from Vitali, he seems to respect Lewis and that probably means more to either of them, then what we think if them.

I could say the same thing about Vitali's fans. All they've done after that bout was cry about how unfair the result was, when in fact it was completely fair according to the rules of the sport.

I personally would like to see threads giving both fighters huge props for that fight, not maligning one fighter or the other.
