So, am I getting this right.. Crolla was due to fight Abril go the full WBA title. That got ditched for obvious reasons, Mathews stepped in , then the song and dance ended up in Abril withdrawing & Mathews fighting Luiz for the "interim" Was Abril then stripped or promoted to "super champion" Cos I know Mathews in mandatory for crolla , but what's happened with Richar Abril?
Abril was stripped I believe and he will now move up to light welterweight or at least those are the rumours.
Ah right... So what's the score with the "super" title? As according to boxrec the last time it was contested was in 2010....all a little confusing for a mere mortal like me.
It is only there in certain divisions. Welterweight, Super bantam and super middle to name a few but look at the champion, they do nit defend very often so it is there to create the sanctioning fees, as they do not want to strip someone who carries such a big name but they still need an active belt too to generate income. Will probably end up being every division though and you are right it is ridiculous and very confusing.
Pile of shyte. If we cannot have a simple World Champion then about time there was a max of 3 bodies and 3 belts only. This super and interim urine turns people off boxing
I agree, I wasn't defending the idea or principle of it all, just stating how it actually works though or their reasons for it.
I'd rather there be 40 weights if there is just one champ per one! Super, Interim, Recess, Regular, I give up. Starting to sound like a Street Fighter Super Hyper Turbo Special HD Edition Remix!!
Okay sorry I misunderstood you, thought your 'pile of shyte' was in reference to what I had said, my mistake
