Unlike #48 who is a bastion of excitement outside the ring.

It'll have to be more that fighting a Paul Smith fresh off of back-to-back losses to Arthur Abraham, but given Ward's conduct over the last four year I wouldn't be surprised is that is the only fight he has until 2016.

Andre Ward is what Floyd would have been if he didn't take on the 'Money' persona.

He certainly comes across as a well mannered proper gentleman. Unfortunatly he is always too busy doing absolutely fukking NOTHING to have time to whip enough butts.

    Not exactly.

Playing a persona doesn't mean that you are otherwise an intellectual or intelligent individual.

Andre Ward is obviously way more intelligent out of the two.

I dont know, This Smith fight should be a very comfortable nights work for somebody as good as Ward. But hes been so innactive i cant really moan at this match up.

But next fight, Come on Andre, if you wana show repeatadly your the best your not really proving it by beating opposition of this level. He has beaten the likes of Froch, Kessler etc there is nobody in the division to be scared of.

IQ outside the ring, I don't know.
IQ inside the ring, Floyd > Ward.

But not what I meant, I mean they both have similar styles that are not exactly fan friendly and only a niche can appreciate and enjoy. If Mayweather hadn't adopted this Money persona I highly doubt his fights would sell anywhere close to what they have, and he would just be another very talented but under appreciated boxer like Rigondoux and Ward and therefore the big boys TR, GB etc... won't put as much marketing behind them than say a less talented but more fan friendly fighter like Canelo.

I don't really understand a lot of the criticism aimed at Ward.

His inactivity has been down to injuries and promotional problems. These are problems that can befall any fighter, especially injury, so i'm not sure why he is given a hard time for it. Boxing fans reactions to a fighter being injured has always perplexed me. Injuries are usually freak accidents or due to general wear and tear so quite why fans have a pop at an injured fighter is beyond me. It is a level of childishness that you really wouldn't expect from a group of adults.

As for this comparison of Ward's style to Floyd's. Have you guys actually watched Ward and Mayweather fight? Yes, they are both fighters who don't plough forward constantly with no head movement and throw lots of missing punchers, but that is where the similarities end.

That lazy and pathetic initialism that I see a lot of on here, YDKSAB, really should be aimed at people who think that Mayweather and Ward fight in the same manner.

As for the Paul Smith fight; it is an obvious fight for someone after such a long lay off. It is someone relatively known on the world stage due to his fights with Abraham, but it is still a very winnable fight.

After everyone Ward has fought for him to be given criticism for fighting Smith after a long time out of the ring smacks of people just looking for a reason to have a go at him.

Some people on here really need to engage in a bit of logic and critical thinking before they post their biased and unsubstantiated drivel.

Last time I checked his promoter was dead. He already had his shoulder injury taken care of along with a tune up fight. What is he going to keep taking 2 years off and fighting tune ups?

i'm impressed you can remember that far back. he certainly appears to do everything possible to avoid hurting an opponent.

besides, this is rubbish. he does his fair share of trash talking (more than given his inactivity), and a quick review of the kessler fight should dispel any illusion of gentlemanly conduct within the ring.
