Seems to me GGG is not very well known to US fight fans yet -- or to many who heard of him he doesn't have a good name.

If Canelo gave him a shot, what PPV numbers could this do?

Maybe a million? Perhaps I'm being optimistic, but Canelo does have a huge Mexican following.

    Right now? Probably 600-700 thousand.

Alvarez is selling this fight purely with his own name and whatever hype(24/7) they're doing and how good it turns out to be. I'm expecting 500k at best. GGG is an absolute unknown with zero wins worth recognizing for him to contribute in any effective way.

I'd rather and hope Cotto vs Alvarez fight for the WBC and Lineal Championships at the full 160 limit with no Catchweights next. A Catchweight will totally put me off.

GGG is one of the more known boxers to casuals, he does pretty decent ratings. I'd say he's AT LEAST as popular as Kovalev is.

Completely agree, no one would be paying for Golovkin, they'd be paying for Canelo. This would do 500k or 600K which are very good numbers, but the pull would be Canelo. I think Cotto/Canelo would sell far greater.

I heard GGG has made good numbers in States?and considering PPV against Lara did little bit under 300thousand?and now people think PPV against GGG would break 500thousand

I don't really understand how all the people would pay only to see Canelo

Or why they think that way,if they think it would break half million buys, but please.explain me then the
    Lara numbers??

So you think Canelo popularity have been doubled from the Lara fight??

I heard the numbers were under 300thousand.and that i will give,it was mostly only because of Canelo

    500k

Oscars making a smart business decision waiting two years to make the fight. If GGG keeps destroying his opponents it could break PPV records

People buy any Canelo fight. It doesn't matter who he fights. I saw him rocked by Cotto's big brother in the 1st round on classic sports a few nights back. Jose Miguel Cotto got a piece of LIl Cinabun before Cotto got stopped. LOL....

You're as good as your last fight, he just starched someone in sensational fashion 5 days ago. I still think his popularity is on the upswing. I thought numbers for the Lara fighter were higher than that :huh

His HBO ratings say otherwise. And you think Cotto is actually going to fight anyone at the 160 limit?:lol::lol:

GGG vs Canelo has plenty of international appeal. Both fighters are well known to fight fans across the globe, and will no doubt be picked up by tv networks everywhere.
Granted it might not do crazy ppv numbers in the US but it is still a very marketable and profitable fight for all involved.
