    Why was Froch removed of his WBA title but not Ward his? Or was he also?

    I'm not a huge fan of Froch as a person and still believe Dirrell beat him clearly, but Froch has one of the best resumes of any active fighter. He brings it each time out, always delivering an exciting affair. If he decided Ward isn't necessary, so be it. He's had a good career which should be respected as such, Ward rematch or not.

    I remember him being vocal about avenging defeats up until the Ward fight. I concede I could be mistaken, but my recollection was that Froch specifically stated that he had no real interest in having a rematch with Ward, citing the fact that he was a spoiler, and that he was boring - while Froch maintained (accurately so) that he was known for being an exciting fighter and a crowd pleaser. Froch acknowledged that Ward was indeed very good at what he does, and mentioned the tricky thing about Ward is that he is always either too close or too far away.

    My recollection of this time frame specifically revolves around the periods preceding and following the Bute fight.

    We'll never know, but that is certainly plausible. Had Ward remained active and continued dominating his opposition, it's possible that a rematch would have made financial sense to both parties, especially if Ward was being groomed as a PPV star (which must have been the idea for HBO when they took him on following the Super Six).

    So I think there's a strong likelihood.

    At the same time, even if Ward remained active and dominant, he may not have gained much appeal as an attraction, and I don't think Carl was ever eager to have the rematch. I think deep down he knows he would need a good break to manage a win against Ward, and that it was never worth risking without the financial reward. So, even if Ward dominated, but did so in nonspectacular fashion that did little for raising his "star" profile, I don't think Froch would have wanted it, honestly.

    But it doesn't matter, really. What we do know is that Ward sabotaged a couple of years of his own career, and that Froch was never overly eager to avenge that loss, which is fine.

    Maybe not, but if Ward didn't stop Bute (and I think he would have late in the fight), I think he would have outclassed Bute more thoroughly even if it went 12, if you get my meaning.

    initially i remember froch being firm about wanting to avenge both losses, but we're in different countries with exposure to different media (it's only really since relatively recently having a smartphone i've been online). he became less vocal, indeed playing ward down since then, but ward has been inactive and unavailable.


    i think it's a given. froch wasn't interested in a groves rematch until fast car convinced him what he could make of it.

    after the s6 final, froch set about making himself the other man in the division, but by default became the main attraction. while ward is unlikely to ever become mainstream, he'd be more of a draw than he is now, yet even with how ward's career has gone, froch still offered him a spot on his testimonial (i can explain if american sports fans are unfamiliar with that term), and was happy to wait on purse bids.

    i'd take ward ud, froch troubled bute with attributes ward doesn't have, and bute doesn't share froch's limitations ward exploited. horrible sentence, i hope you can follow it!

    Dudes really think ward vs froch 2 wouldn't do huge business in the UK?

    You'll buggin that fight would be massive out there.

    The UK obviously know who ward is they watched him beat their guy easily

    The UK & Germany were the only countries that had vested interest in the super 6.

    The UK support any major fight especially when it's happening in their country & plus it's a rivalry.

    The promotion would be bananas

    Ward travelled over 3000 miles to fight Froch the first time. Froch refused to even countenance travelling more than 30 miles to fight Ward.

    That tells me all I need to know about his attitude towards avenging his defeat.

    Also saying to the media that he'd fight Ward in Nottingham, isn't exactly an offer.

    In that case, I could say Ward made a counter offer, if fighting anywhere else in England and Froch refused.

    Froch has NEVER made a big issue of avenging his defeat to Ward.

    And I don't blame him. It was the right business decision.

    Wanting a rematch I what Pacquiao did when Morales beat him. "anytime, anywhere"

    Not, "ill only fight him if its in walking distance of my house" after saying for 3 years that he wasn't interested in a fight.

    He was embarrassed in the first fight, I'm not surprised he's not motivated to endure that again.

    He should fight someone or **** off and retire.
