Both parties going to NY for a press conference/city tour. A few minutes into the the journey, we’re chatting away, having a drink when the pilot gestures to me to come forward. ‘Hey Ricky, listen to this idiot.’ He turns on the speaker and over the radio I hear Floyd arguing with the pilot of his plane behind: “I’m not letting that mother****er get there before me, ****ing overtake them!” “We can’t do that, Sir.” “Overtake that mother****er – I’m the champ! I’ve got to get to New York first. I’ll pay whatever you want.” Hatton summed up his opinion of Mayweather in one classic line. What’s the point of being the world’s best fighter if everyone thinks you’re a ****head? Crazy how competitive Floyd can be, don't think he can turn that competitive switch off even outside of the ring. I heard stories about this with other athletes like Jordan etc. Just nuts. :deal
:yep You write the very wise words my friend. The little bald conman Mr Mayweather is happy to risk lives of people on board the areoplane just to try and get to NYC first. I cannot wait until King Khan beats Mr Mayweather in easy style in September.
Tragic. It really is. Imagine living a life where you constantly need to prove yourself to yourself and others like that. Floyd's quest for validation is pretty sad when you think about it.
That's what it takes to dominate a sport for 10+ years. Others can do it for 1-2 years. To do it for a decade plus is a sign of extreme dedication that borders on insanity.
"I’ll pay whatever you want." Sadly for Floyd boxing judges do not also work as private pilots.
I don't think there is anything borderline about it. The amount he worries about what other people think is ridiculous. In a lot of ways I do feel sorry for him. Well as much as you can for a physically healthy rich guy. I think there may be some truth in rumours regarding his ***uality too. It would explain a lot if he was a repressed gay guy.
Well but what do you expect? The level of borderline psychological syndromes present in people increases exponentially the higher you climb up the ladder: Mozart was a nuthead sezx-addict and narcissist Van Gogh was bi-polar, highly depressive and suicidal Alfred Hitchcokk was a sadist who played sick jokes on his underlings in order to make up for his own shortcomings Now you are concerned Floyd is overly competitive, shows clear signs of being a psychopath and constantly calls people names? Seriously, what do you expect? If you want to make it to the top, if you want to play the men's game, you better be a bit of a nuthead and different than your average Joe from across the street. Otherwise you won't make it.
