What type of cardio is best for boxing

    Hello
    I am sorry for the multiple questions in regards to this question. This will be the last time.
    I have a dyslexia so I struggle to understand not a excuse though anyways

    What type of cardio should I be doing aneorobic which is HIIT or Endurance LIIT

    I am thinking of doing 5 miles on the cross trainer 2 minute high resistance and 2 minute to catch my breath for about 30 minutes
    I was also thinking of doing 20 minute bike 2 minute high resistance and 2 minute to catch my breath
    Then 20 minute rowing
    I was also thinking of doing ab training I was going to skip 4 days a week build up my leg endurance my calves cramp up easy I noticed when I sparred my calves hurt like crazy lol

    I think this done 4-5 days a week will be sufficient what do you think

    I cant do any punchbag due to tendonitis and carpel tunnel syndrome at the moment so this is the only option to keep somewhat active

    Interval based training.

    That's all that Boxing is anyway, Intervals. From fighting in spurts to doing 3 on and 1 off, Intervals are best.

    I've never got why trainers try and make someone who is a power-puncher run 10 miles a day. You want that guy to be as explosive as humanly possible - marathon training goes again that grain.

    I enjoy interval training because you dont have to spend ages doing cardio plus it gets you really tired

    Intervals and slow distance running are not exactly comparable and do not shut each other out. You should definitely do some aerobic work aswell, such as jogging, as having a solid aerobic base is also very important.

    I used to do strictly HIIT with some more aerobic work on the jumprope. But then I just recently started doing some long distance running and I have been seeing some benefit from it. I would recommend you do both. That's what the top strength coaches in boxing would probably have you do.

    Be prepared to sustain a high heartrate for a long time, be able to burst for a long time, be able to recover quicker in between bursts, and have your bursts be more explosive.

    Thats seems like a good idea I was thinking of doing 20 minute HIIT cross trainer then 30 minute aerobic
    have a mix of both do HIIT first because I will be fresh of energy
    I am going to buy skipping ropes as well I enjoy skipping plus it keeps you on the toes so it mimics sparring to a sense your on the toes

    The majority of boxing training should apparently be high intensity as the majority of energy is consumed anaerobically during an actual bout.

    Train as you mean to fight.

    Low intensity is good for general conditioning and getting down to weight but in terms of actual cardiovascular training HIIT (in my humble opinion) is the answer.

    I do not profess to be an expert in these matters though.

    interval two times a week distance 3 times a week or vice versa I find helps

    as well as intervals while jump roping too. high intensity jump rope for 1 min-3 mins then steady for 5 etc...

    I don't agree skipping is an effective means of conditioning for boxing. For me, I would only use skipping as a warm-up, as I don't think doing intervals with skipping ropes would elicit physiological responses specific to boxing.

    High-intensity interval training and repeated sprint training are effective training methods because they target both the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems, both of which are integral to successful boxing performance.

    Skipping does all of what you mention, its knowing what when and how.
