Surprised to hear that from a Euro. I'm assuming you were too young to remember much of GWB's years in office.

On the Obama/Bush debate, neither man is worse than the other. You can't please everyone. Anyone saying one is better than the other is purely subjective.

    Sad but true. #Philippines

I've gone from loving him and idolising him to absolutely hating him....all in the space of a week.

    Reminder:

Four criteria for scoring the fight:

    * Clean, effective punching (and any "tap" that forces a reset would be considered effective).
    * Ring generalship (Mayweather dictated the tempo of the round throughout the first two minutes)
    * Defence (Both guys defended well at points, but Mayweather did a better job of defending throughout the round)
    * Effective aggression (Push. Mayweather went forward early, and Pac went forward late. )

this_and_that raises an interesting point of whether we truly know which punch could be considered effective- and that cuts both ways. We don't know how many of those "taps" caught Pac's attention in any way, and we don't know how many of Pac's clean punches were blunted by Mayweather's ability to roll them.

We do know that the manner in which the bout was contested suited Floyd's style far more than Pac in most rounds, and based on that it's easy to see why the judges not only awared Floyd the decision, but felt (quite correctly, imo) that he won the contest.

Coming from a Floyd fanatic. What's ridiculous is Floyd fans can't accept the reality that many also thinks Pac won..

I thought Mayweather outpointed Pac. That being said I didnt think he "beat" him, I didnt think he "won" the fight, and he sure as hell didnt "kick his ass" as some Floyd fans have said. I thought it was an abysmal showing by both fighters. Neither guy wanted to fight. In the old days they would have stopped the fight, called all bets off, and kicked those jokers out of the ring without pay. Thats what should have happened here. I think the lawsuit against Pac for his injury is another issue but totally appropriate as well. It was obvious by Floyds running and Pac's unwillingness to press that these guys were fighting a glorified sparring session or exhibition. When you have a guy like Pac occasionally stepping back while Floyd is on the ropes then you have a guy who isnt interested in fighting. Same with Floyds track meet. Call that "boxing" all you want but you do a disservice to the sport. At the end of the day the sport is a legalized fight and these two pussies looked like two kids in the school yard who have been talked into fighting by the crowd but dont really want to get hurt. People keep harping on the punchstats and how floyd outthrew and outlanded Pac. I have a hard time believing that to begin with given Floyd's general lack of interest in fighting that night but even if he did the vast majority of his punches were simply taps, flicks, or him extending his left as a range finder with no power on them at all. That combined with the fact that they call anything that isnt a jab a "power punch" gives punch stats a ridiculously skewed and pointless view of the fight. When you consider all of that and the fact that its basically down to human error as to whether a guy thinks a punch lands or not then you a completely unscientific stat that so many put way to much faith into. Either way its what I expected after 5+ years of making excuses not to fight each other. It was a horrible night for the sport. That debacle was on one of the largest stages in the sports history and it was a total snoozefest. Boxing is entertainment whether fanboy apologists want to admit it or not. Its a blood sport whether losers who live in trailers and drive hoopties with $2000 rims and care more about style than substance want to admit. A showing like that while the sport is at a low ebb is enough to relegate it beyond the niche status it has now into the s****yard. Maybe thats what it needs. Take the money out of the sport and entitled ****s like Mayweather and Pac who care less about being the best and entertaining the fans than cashing their massive checks will either die off or be forced to actually fight for our money. Ive been actively watching this sport for 35 years and I can tell you Im done with the modern guys. I'll stick to watching the old films and reading about a time when fighters actually fought. If the sport dies then it has nobody to blame but itself and its ignorant fans.

Round 3 was definitely a Pacquiao's round, I will agree with you on that.

Why don't we focus on what may be the real future of boxing: Roman Gonzalez. I understand he is only a flyweight, but, I re-watched about 10 of his fights yesterday. This guy is the real deal. He can move, he can box, and he can punch. This is no one dimensional slugger looking for one big punch. He can mix it up, and punches well in combination. His uppercut is a thing of violent beauty. And, he is not afraid to mix it up.

Unlike the sham we got on May 2nd, this guy could be the breath of fresh air that boxing needs. He is looking more and more like a worthy successor to Finito Lopez all the time.

I had the fight 115-113 giving 5 rounds to Pacquiao (the last round I gave to Manny because Floyd did literally nothing but run the whole time while his glove made no contact with any scoring area).

If this fight was in 2009, things would have been much different.

I agree with a lot of what you say, especially the part about nobody winning the fight. The problem is that there is the huge bloc of fans who only buy Floyd fights, though for the life of me I can't figure out why, and that gives him the power. Don't give up on boxing, there are a lot of tough, hungry fighters out there dying to show their stuff. GGG is on this weekend, that should be good. Floyd will be gone soon

The fight was super close and could have went either way. floyd dominating was all smoke and mirrors.
Had Pac got the decision, Floyd would have went crazy, probably hire someone to hunt the judges down and break their legs. lol Look at floyd, you think HE of all people would be a good loser?
