I thought it was an abysmal showing by both fighters. Neither guy wanted to fight. In the old days they would have stopped the fight, called all bets off, and kicked those jokers out of the ring without pay. Thats what should have happened here. I think the lawsuit against Pac for his injury is another issue but totally appropriate as well. It was obvious by Floyds running and Pac's unwillingness to press that these guys were fighting a glorified sparring session or exhibition. When you have a guy like Pac occasionally stepping back while Floyd is on the ropes then you have a guy who isnt interested in fighting. Same with Floyds track meet. Call that "boxing" all you want but you do a disservice to the sport. At the end of the day the sport is a legalized fight and these two pussies looked like two kids in the school yard who have been talked into fighting by the crowd but dont really want to get hurt. People keep harping on the punchstats and how floyd outthrew and outlanded Pac. I have a hard time believing that to begin with given Floyd's general lack of interest in fighting that night but even if he did the vast majority of his punches were simply taps, flicks, or him extending his left as a range finder with no power on them at all. That combined with the fact that they call anything that isnt a jab a "power punch" gives punch stats a ridiculously skewed and pointless view of the fight. When you consider all of that and the fact that its basically down to human error as to whether a guy thinks a punch lands or not then you a completely unscientific stat that so many put way to much faith into. Either way its what I expected after 5+ years of making excuses not to fight each other. It was a horrible night for the sport. That debacle was on one of the largest stages in the sports history and it was a total snoozefest. Boxing is entertainment whether fanboy apologists want to admit it or not. Its a blood sport whether losers who live in trailers and drive hoopties with $2000 rims and care more about style than substance want to admit. A showing like that while the sport is at a low ebb is enough to relegate it beyond the niche status it has now into the s****yard. Maybe thats what it needs. Take the money out of the sport and entitled ****s like Mayweather and Pac who care less about being the best and entertaining the fans than cashing their massive checks will either die off or be forced to actually fight for our money. Ive been actively watching this sport for 35 years and I can tell you Im done with the modern guys. I'll stick to watching the old films and reading about a time when fighters actually fought. If the sport dies then it has nobody to blame but itself and its ignorant fans.

It's tough to take your post seriously if you can't appreciate modern boxing. I do agree with what your saying, and you're right to stop watching it. If you've got a negative view on modern boxing as a whole, then posting your views is a recipe for disaster. Your comparing eras naturally, which isn't fair and Seeing two adults verbally degrade each other through the means of a sport that we all enjoy/enjoyed/carry on enjoying, isn't needed on this forum and quite frankly embarrassing.

I came across one pac**** who claimed Floyd only won because of Pacqiauos shoulder injury which stopped him from letting his hands go.

Manny would outwork Floyd in a rematch.

The only person who would claim "comparing eras naturally isnt fair" is someone who knows that pretty much every other era of boxing ****s all over this one. Boxing is a form of entertainment and its a competetive sport. Why wouldnt anyone want to say that boxing was more competetive and more entertaining than it is today in other eras?

Pac does not deserve another payday and in a re match there is a chance he would not win a single round Complete waste of time due to the absolute non competitive nature of the first fight.

Honestly I'd prefer GGG-Ward, its a better fight.

GGG-Ward is the next PAC-Floyd, if only they can build it the way it deserves to be built.

I'm not sure I can answer that. My excuse however lies in the fact that I've never lived through greater eras, I find the state of boxing very disturbing, but I find that with most sports. Maybe it's just the area I live in. I have little to any friends that I can have a decent, two sided conversation about any fighter older than Floyd Mayweather. That's why I like you guys and although I think my opinions are fairly fragile because of this, so I'll willingly accept any critisism and take it on board and although this era has a bad tint around it too many, I feel great pride in the fact I started watching boxing in an era where I have access to virtually any significant fight within hours of it happening.

Hopefully there's a light at the end of the tunnel for eras to come
