I hear that. Thank you youtube and streaming video. This generation has probably seen more fights online than any before it saw live and on television. Imagine being a fan of this sport forty years ago when you either saw the fight live as it happened or you got to maybe read about it in the papers. Remember 2006's fight of the year Sithchatawal vs Monshipur? Nobody in America would have ever even heard about it before the advent of the internet. But now some obscure fight in France can be watched globally and become fight of the year. I just watched Fighting Harada vs Pone Kingpetch I, one hell of a fight, which I assume only Japanese people saw when it happened. Meanwhile, if you are a fan of Akira Yaegashi, Takashi Uchiyama, Naoya Inoue, or Kazuto Ioka it doesn't matter where you live because you can see their fights.

You can't talk about boxing one on one with the guy on the street, but you can talk about them with a community of likeminded enthusiasts here! This kind of forum didn't exist back in the day.

You claim to be some kind of researcher / historian of boxing.

Well name me a trainer who tells his fighter " Look son, your job is first and foremost to go out and entertain the crowd " and I'll show you a fuking idiot.

A fighters job is to go out and win if possible, entertainment is a by product of that aim. If you think that Mayweather is obliged to stand and fight a guy that could possibly stop him under those circumstances when he has no need to, then with all due respect you must be a bit of an idiot too.

    Absolutely.

I know plenty of football ( soccer to Muricans ) fans that go to games and haven't got a fuking clue what occurred ( unless their team dominates and wins ) because they ONLY watch the players of the team they support.

It is the same with fights. If you want a guy to win you can convince yourself he has if it goes the distance, and isn't completely one sided.

    It is called bias.

Have you ever heard of a guy named Roberto Duran? He made a career out of ROLLING with punches. It takes the power out of them, and allows you to fire straight back.

I agree with some of your previous statements. But you seem to forget when Pac fought Cotto he had little to no experience fighting at that weight, Where as Mayweather had fought at 154 and is bigger than Pac FACT. That makes the Canelo fight a lot more damaging in comparison to Pac vs Cotto.

I aint a bitter Pac fan and I saw Pac lost to PBF even though I had it closer than the judges did. Scoring has gone down the tubes in PRO and AM Boxing and the refereeing is awful even more so in the UK.

But the main FACT about both fighters in their WW career is WHO ELSE was there to fight that would be worthy of PPV for the best P4P fighters of the last Decade? NO ONE they fought and beat/lost to what is available. And for that reason both will not make it in to the top 15/20 of all time.

The casual fan doesn't get the chance to see many of these lower weight guys so it's importible to say whether they would be interested or not.

are wrong. And an argument of "it's because you don't understand the defensive genius blah blah blah" is not gonna work. Defense domination is factually not as exciting as offense by the most basic observation. I mean, all across sports it 's the same. People always cheer loudest for points scored. You can make the argument of understanding the nuances of great defense all day for any sport and it don't matter, the fact is even the hard core fans of any sport in attendance (which is the vast majority) don't cheer until scoring occurs or will cheer far louder in comparison to even the greatest of defensive plays.

Offense being far more exciting than defense is so inherently true by only basic observation you would think it doesn't even need explaining to anyone. You can even think of the most accused sports of being boring and you will see they are all defensive led, Baseball, Soccer, etc. And if the games are defensive led even in the most exciting sports they are still considered boring like football, basketball etc.

The only sports where you will get a significant level of cheering for defense are football, and hockey, and that's because those plays are in conjunction with violence/hitting, which in boxing, is considered offense/scoring. If people think Floyd is boring it is probably not because they don't understand something or other but, simply because their personal opinion falls in line with the vast majority of people across the board of all sports in thinking that defensive led is boring. It's their right to believe so and doesn't at all mean they're dumb.

Floyd basically bltch cheated his way to victory.

Pac landed more punches, landed the harder punches, hurt Floyd, and was the aggressor, yet Floyd won????

    How did that happen????

Boxing needs to be changed to award the aggressor more.

Nobody wants to watch some bltch, run around the ring, and touch and go his way to a cheating victory.

    **** that.

    That's bull****.

And if you're scared to take risks and create the fight, then get outta the game. The game aint' for you.

Ray Robinson could do both. Pacquaio did both, considering Floyd barely touched him and instead it was Floyd who looked all busted up after the fight like the bltch he is and his DADDY said he was.

But not only did he not land as many punches, land some bltch ass ***** ass punches when he did land, and get hurt 4 times, and get his face all swolled up, and ran like a lil bltch, but he also MADE IT BORING by running like a lil BltCH like his DADDY SAID.

You see, NOBODY is gonna PAY to SEE THIS SHlT AGAIN.

    THAT'S IT.

He made a ton of money, but that's it.

Ain't nobody wanna see a BlTCH boy run away and cheat his way to victory like he did when MAIDANA WHUPPED HIS ASS THE FIRST TIME, BUT SOMEHOW FLOYD WON, and WHEN MANNY WHUPPED HIS RETREATING BlTCH ASS the SECOND TIME, but SOMEHOW FLOYD WON.

    That's too bad.

    **** Floyd.

    He can fight GGG.

That's the only mother ****er people are gonna pay for.

I ain't payin to watch his BlTCH ass run from Khan or Thurman.

    **** that.

Nobody is gonna pay for that except for maybe stupid ass brits.

How you think Floyd vs Thurman would turn out????

Thurman would land all the hard punches and come out looking clean, like he just took a shower.

    Meanwhile, Floyd wins.

    **** that.
