Round 1

Páez is circling and waving his left arm vertically. Benavidez is chipping away on the guard with his jab, patiently stepping around him. Benavidez lines up a right hand and shakes Páez up a bit. Páez is whipping in high left hooks, ducking in as Benavidez drops jabs and hammering rights from a distance. Páez is countered as he slides in with a reaching left hook up top, hitting the inner part of Benavidez's arm while he throws his own hook. Benavidez is walking Páez down and grazes with a right hand in pursuit. Benavidez bats Páez's left glove away with a scooping motion of his own, and shoots a quick jab into the face.

Round 2

Páez is putting out his left forearm and ramming his way in, driving Benavidez across the ring and working hooks and uppercuts across the midsection. Páez keeps Benavidez pinned on the ropes and juliennes him with power shots on the body. Benavidez is kept totally gun-shy while loitering there, allowing Páez to work. Benavidez spins him and lands a stiff jab. Right hand by Benavidez, making Páez do a little hop on one foot, but too little too late.

Round 3

Páez is dropped EARLY from a body shot. Uppercut on the solar plexus, using his own momentum against him. On his knees, wind gone. Páez is barely able to stand in time for ten. Benavidez jumps on him, flurrying. Páez can't recover, face red. Two minutes left. Benavidez is stalking with his gloves by his waist, curling around paddling blows on the sides. BIG looping right on the face by Benavidez as Páez ducks along the ropes, turning his cheek. Páez is tough, and keeping his wits, moving, pivoting off the ropes, but his legs are noticeably slowed, as though walking underwater. Benavidez is catching Páez by the ropes with 2- and 3-punch combos. BIG drum-roll on the abdomen by Páez, making a stand on the inside. Benavidez is just following, unsure how to proceed.
