Why? He's a 16th ranked fighter against #1. This was never a close fight. This was nothing more than a punching bag for GGG on HBO.

Give GGG credit for that beautiful hook, he timed it so well, but he's in against an opponent that would struggle to win against anyone in the Top 10

In the "if he stand still I throw more punches" department, if GGG would quit hititng him I bet Monroe could make this competitive.

See what I mean about GGG being easy to hit?

I mean this is what happens when Golovkin fights someone that can't punch at all.

    Round 3

Golovkin is hauling the right hand across into Monroe's head while slipping the southpaw's jab. Monroe is planting his feet to stave Golovkin off with a 1-2 before moving to box on the outside, avoiding the ropes as best he can. Golovkin is looking to set up a left hook but mostly scoring with the right hand when Monroe leans to his own left. Monroe is elusive and blocking a fair deal but still getting hit and made to wince.

    10-9 Golovkin

    30-25 Golovkin

Yeah, but he's hardly facing a murderers row of punchers - if Cotto landed those style of shots on him, it'd be interesting.

Props to Monroe, he came back big, giving a more competitive round to Golovkin.
