Hearns vs GGG

You mean that 5'7" midget Curtis Stevens right? He could never get into range being an oompa loompa of a middleweight.

We've seen Golovkin hit cleanly against numerous opponents, Hearns with a 7.5 inch reach advantage, 2 inches in height and much faster hands would have no problem landing cleanly on Golovkin even if his defence was good.

Golovkin has a punchers chance but he's going to eat a lot of power shots first to land his own KO punch. If he has a granite chin he wins, if he doesn't he gets chopped down like so many others have.

 

The outcome would have been the same as the Hearns-Hagler fight. GGG would have gotten tagged a few times before tucking Tommy in for the night. Nighty night, Tommy. The better fight would have been Hagler-GGG. We would learn what GGG is really made of, because Hagler was as tough as they come. But, remember, Hagler lost to Leonard and I think GGG stops Leonard, so you never know.

 

I'm a huge Hearns fan and think Golovkin actually has a chance. He's pretty precise and Hearns likes going to war. Golovkin has the kind of power to KO Hearns. And Hearns didn't just put to sleep every opponent he fought, and neither did he do every time in the first round or before his opponent could land something himself.

Iran Barkley was taking a beating before KO'ing Hearns, so no, Hearns didn't just touch you and you were out.

 

Yes, that Stevens, who enjoyed a 1,5 inches reach advantage over Gennady. :good

 

The Barkley KO of Hearns would likely happen with Gennaday
as well. GGG would probably have Hearns out with left hook.

Hearns would have 4-5 rds to blow Gennady out, while staying away.
After that, he gets walked down and stopped.

It all depends on Gennady's defense thus.

Hearns two biggest losses were because of his Chin. Can't say the same thing about GGG.

 

GiGi wouldn't be walking hearns down once he feels that whipping power from those anaconda like arms

 

Hearns' power wasn't the same when he moved up in weight. He was also unable to take a punch when he got later into his career. Basically, what a lot of you are doing is viewing Hearns at his peak as a WW and projecting that onto him as a MW. But he never had that power as a MW. And by the time he got there he had taken too many shots. That's not how the real world works.

I think he would wait 4-5 rds for Hearn's stamina to decrease, then he would go forward.

A Hearns-GGG matchup I think would be very entertaining to watch. Hearns had very good footwork for a guy his size, and a terrific range-finding jab. I think Hearns could beat him if he utilized the ring and just boxed him carefully from a distance.

If I could pick any 80's MW though to face Gennady, I'd love to see him against the Marvelous one. Hagler was a seek and destroy type of fighter, excellent inside game and a granite chin. That would've been a fun fight to watch for however long it lasted.
