    You're right. If he moved up and got beat, no doubt he'd receive backlash from many saying GGG was hype, exposed, etc. But I don't believe any neutral observers would be inclined to buy that line of revisionist history. But point taken. :good

    Good points all, although I'd imagine if GGG does land and defeat a marquee name, you might see him relegated to 2 fights a year if his star power and earning power grow. I hope I'm wrong if that happens, and that he DOES continue being very active. But the nature of the beast that is the boxing business, tends to limit the biggest money guys to 2 a year with rare exceptions in this day and age.

    GGG has exceptional power at 160, but I'm not convinced he carries that power to 168 with quite the same umphh. That's not to say I think he will suddenly become feather fisted. For sure, he will still be an outstanding puncher with very good power. But one of the big advantages he has now, is that he is comfortable at 160. The weight is perfect for him, and at that weight, his power gives him a tremendous edge that might be a good deal less significant should he venture north.

    In fairness though, I said the same thing about Trinidad before he moved up to 160 and knocked Joppy all over the ring.

    Interesting Jeff. I never really thought Canelo had much of a chance at all against Golovkin, and seeing his recent fight against Kirkland didn't convince me otherwise. The thing that concerns me most about Canelo is he seems to need a lot of breathers in between attacks, and those are the moments where I think GGG is all wrong for him - although I like Canelo's chances much better against Golovkin than I do Cotto's.

    D'oh! I didn't think to even mention Chavez Jr following his recent loss.

    Is Chavez still that big of a payday for people due to his name?

    Ward should fight Kovalev. He is already too big for SMW, coupled with his skills, he is practically unbeatable in that division. He was a LHW in the amateurs and he should man up and challenge Kovalev. He is really not 1 but 2 divisions above Golovkin. Kovalev vs Ward could easily be FOTY. He will have fought someone of his size at last.

    Well, I do think there's something very appealing about the GGG-Chavez Jr. match-up, especially with how GGG aligns his style as commensurate with the Mexican tradition, so there are angles for this to make good money. It would still be a good near future fight from a business standpoint and for a "big drama show". His name has gotta be in the mix, I think. The recent loss does detract slightly from the idea, of course.

    It's abundantly clear that GGG really really wants the Cotto fight, and is very eager to fight Canelo, who is frankly the same size as GGG.

    Cotto does not want to fight GGG; no way in heaven, hell, earth — you name it.
