Fair enough. I covered the reasons why I don't think it makes sense for Floyd, Cotto, or Canelo to face GGG if they can avoid it, and I explained the reasons I don't think GGG should fight Ward. The reasons are similar. And that would also apply to Ward maybe holding out on Kovalev. Although, as I mentioned before, someone said Kathy Duva announced she was in talks with RocNation for a 2016 bout between Ward and Kovalev. I'm not sure if there's any truth to that, though.
Agreed, also against naturally bigger fighters his power may not carry up as well (he'll still be a hard hitter but perhaps not the monster puncher he is at MW), and his entire style is revolved around his power.
Because it doesn't make sense. He can beat everyone in SMW except for (perhaps) Ward who, as I mentioned earlier, really belongs in LHW. Problem is, SMW is a division as dead as MW, and there is no one there who can offer a payday like Cotto or Canelo. It just doesn't make sense for him to move up (to a division that offers nothing special) at 33 years old after fighting his whole life in MW.
No. Ward beats the breaks off of the both of them. Hopkins had no problems making Kovalev miss. Ward will make his miss *and* PAY. Beating Kovalev is simple. All you need to do is take away his jab and fight him on the inside. Ward excels at this and would probably lay a beating on Kovalev...
This is nothing more than an excuse and an apology used by the Bum-love-kin crowd to justify their hero fighting TOMATO CANs. Their double standard here is obvious seeing as the Bum-love-kin crowd, while saying their man should stay @ 160, never fail to demand that Ward move up to 175 whenever his name is mentioned. Pot, meet Mr Kettle. Great fighters move up. Floyd did it, Ray [Robinson and Leonard] did it, Oscar did it, Tito did it, Hearns did it, Arguello did it, Hopkins did it, Toney did it, and the list goes on of great fighters who moved up to PROVE that they were GREAT. Bum-love-kin is NOT a great fighter and his worshipers seem to be happy with that...
A bb gun will kill a sparrow, but only the perfect shot will kill a crow, a .22 will kill the crow, but only a perfect shot will kill the wolf a .44 mag will kill the wolf but only a perfect shot will kill the bear. However the .50 caliber rifle kills any beast that ever lived and with power to spare, I believe Golovkin is the .50 caliber of boxing, and I also feel Ward is gun shy.
If that was the case then Chavez Jr would have had to play B-side for Sergio Martinez because his accomplishments didn't match up. But Chavez was a bigger draw than Martinez so dictated the terms. I'm pretty sure GGG will be willing to play B-side to bigger draws Canelo or Cotto. Thus Ward should be willing to do for Canelo. Casuals want to watch GGG, not so much Ward. And unless Ward starts to accept he's not Mayweather and terms of drawing power the fight with GGG won't happen, much like the fight with Froch didn't happen and I personally believe Ward is more to blame for this than them.
Lol. Only the Bum-love-kin crowd would convince themselves that 168 is the wasteland that 160 is. The FACT of the matter is, 160 is so bad that it's ruled by a *welterweight*. At the very least, 168 is ruled by an actual super middleweight. The ONLY reason why it doesn't make sense for Bum-love-kin to move up is because the top guys @ 168 would lay a beating on his ass...
I can't believe you didn't stop long enough to think about all the great fighters that didn't move up... Thick headed people amuse me.
