cant see anyone who can beat ward in the current boxing landscape. Ward is far too taltented far too adaptable ok his chin can let him down but i can just see him outclassing kovalev.

its all about ward n his weight. the catchweight fight is above 168 so i think hes trying to ease his way up to 175. ward is probably makin sure he able to fight at his best at the weight. (175)

ward is smart strategic fighter with calculated business decisions once hes ready to move up to 175 he wont fight kovalev right away.

i think were gunna have to see ward get active again shake of the rust n have 2 or 3 fight before kovalev .. in this day of age of boxing were gunna have to wait for a fight like this.

What makes anyone think Duva is going to actually try to make a meaningful fight with Kova?

Didn't they force the issue to get purse bids with Stevenson ... and then balk? Because HBO/Duva weren't willing to try to outbid Haymon?

This, too, would be an expensive fight to get made. I don't see the commitment on the part of Kova/Duva/HBO to invest in the guy by ponying up to make a big fight.

And am I correct in saying that Roc National has literally promoted like ONE fight card so far?

Stevenson is on a different network. Both Kovalev and Ward are on HBO it is actually a very easy fight to get made. If you think HBO won't pony up a good license fee for this fight you are crazy.

I don't see why this fight couldn't happen in the Fall.

What would the weight difference be on the night?

I know Ward weighed 176 lbs against Dawson but that was a few years back now.

let ward get in the back in the game and in the swing of things.

n keep our focus on why the heck stevenson/kovalev aren't fighting. that right now is the number one fight in boxing and were not getting it.

I prefer this fight to Kovalev vs Stevenson. It's a superb fight.

What network is Stevenson on? His last fight was on CBS. He doesn't have a contract to fight only on CBS.

If HBO wanted that fight, all it had to do was win the bid. And if it lost the bid, it can grant Kova a one-time release to allow him to fight on another network ... HBO does it all the time when it passes on mandatories and allows fighters under contract to fight off HBO.

I think HBO knows it can profit on Kova (and GGG) but not paying big fees/purses and not engage in competitive bidding and let them fight second-tier guys rather than invest in them to make big fights that could make them big stars.

He is with Haymon and Showtime. HBO doesn't bid for fights the Promoters do in a purse bid situation and Duva knew she couldn't outbid Haymon and also knew HBO wasn't going to let Kovalev fight on Showtime/CBS. Your post is clueless.

Ward would need a chin transplant and gain a great punch too beat kovalev.

If you don't punch you don't beat kovalev, simple as that really.

Beterbiev is pretty much Kovalev's IBF mando at this point.
Fight with Stevenson IS always on the table since it brings good money. They just need more time to negotiate it.

Time for Ward to pay the piper.
