Golovkin to move up to 168 to fight Froch

If he moves up to fight Froch at 168 lbs I don't want to hear any excuses from his camp or the fans.

I thought Froch pretty much gave the indication he was finished fighting? I think he poses all kinds of problems stylistically to Golovkin but don't think this fight happens

 

GGG would be able to land at will against Froch.

Both. Not that I think Golovkin should rush and fight the high risk/low reward Andre Ward, but it should be in his near future. He's 33, Ward is in his 30's too. I'd hate to have another Mayweather/Pacquiao situation.

 

Excuses about either man losing, or Golovkin not being able (or willing, for that matter) to fight Ward.

 

Excuses like what? That GGG is not a full-blown SMW? That's not an excuse that's reality. If Froch beats GGG and GGG doesn't carry up well in weight, then he doesn't get credit for beating a prime-weight GGG.

On the other hand Froch is past prime now, GGG doesn't get credit for beating a prime Froch.

I agree with the Ward assessment, if GGG moves up the Ward fight should be on the horizon.

If Golovkin beats Froch, which I definitely think he would, he'd basically have to face Ward shortly after that or be a duck if Ward is still at SMW

But I think Ward is probably moving up soon so Golovkin won't have to worry about Ward immediately

But imagine if Ward went up to LHW and beat Kovalev and Golovkin cleans out SMW and they end up clashing in a superfight

I could see that being heavily debated among the fans. In my opinion, I think Golovkin carries the weight fine. But Froch is old, clearly not his best, and Golovkin won't get much credit.

 

would give props to both fighters for taking this and agree that its a step in the right direction for ggg....but i think froch is a little passed it....but its better than a career mw looking to take on a welterweight like ggg wants with cotto

 

Golovkin is a natural middleweight, Froch is the bigger man.

 

Froch will never fight GGG. He would rather rematch weak opposition, likes of Groves and claim fame.

 

No debating that; I still think Golovkin would be good at 168. But it raises a question: Does Froch being the naturally bigger man negate the fact that he's passed his best? :think
