Frazier made effective use of his right but it didn't carry any significant power, unlike Marciano who had kd power in both hands.
If Frazier had a right as good as Marciano's left I would pick him to beat Rocky because he was bigger ,quicker ,with more fluid body movement, a lot more accurate, had much better balance was able to reload and fire his best punch much more rapidly ,and was faster into range.

Purely on the basis of Marciano's two fisted power ,I give him the edge.

Any one suggesting Marciano did not fight his most deserving challengers? If the answer is no, then your post is totally irrelevant to the thread.

Personally I think Foxy is a confident poster who has a good opinion of himself .I don't see any inclination towards "self loathing in his posts B,can you point out those that indicate this is the case?

I first watched the Moore v Marciano fight on a 4 foot screen in super 8mm in my parents lounge, that would be in the mid 60's, before you came out of your Daddy's sausage.
The projector had a slow motion facility on it and I ran the fight and the other Marciano defences on it many, many times.
When technology advanced I bought it on video and later dvd.
I also have interviews with Marciano and Moore talking about the fight .Including Marciano stating he blacked out during the 4 count knockdown, and that on arising he went to the ropes because he was expecting the standing count that had been waived because it was a title fight.
The ringside reports say," Moore's aging legs betrayed him " and Marciano got him by a relentless bulldogging attack in which he was ground down . I have the Ring issue that covers the fight too.
Here is another snippet "The 19 years of fighting caught up with the poised craftsman in the 8th".
Pretty much a repeat of the Louis report really.
I've also several books dealing with the fight, [I've over 100 on boxing].
With respect I don't think that there is anything you are going to teach me about Rocky Marciano, however much you hero worship him.
NB If he had not retired ,Marciano's next defence was projected to have been Franco Cavicchi! 50 & 0 then!

marcianos defense is not all that. his bob and weave is pretty good for sure though but he counts on absorbing it in order to dish it out.

I suppose it is if you are gullible enough to fall for misinformed rhetoric.

" People backing Hopkins to DESTROY Kovalev "

Oh really, you do realise the last time Hopkins destroyed anyone was 11 years ago, and that was the former Welterweight DeLaHoya.

For the record no one to my knowledge is claiming Marciano was not a high achiever given his size, weight and reach. Some of us are however claiming he is not worth anything like his mythical status, particularly when his title reign is taken into consideration.

If Marciano were black, he would be big, but not as mythical as he is today. Let's face it; two things stand out about Marciano's achievements:

    1. His undefeated record
    2. He took the title back to white America.

A black man beating up Joe Louis in the 50's would have been hated like Mayweather is now.

Rocky wasn't hated for beating him up because he was the slight underdog against a larger man.
Joe Louis was the betting favorite against Marciano.
    Think Pac vs Oscar.

He would gain some news fans if he was black and lose some old ones. I think a lot of the media would give him more credit if he was black

I think that is about the size of it.

Now can I be of any help with this serious lack of self- esteem you are suffering from?

It's OK, I've already booked to see a Psy cahl ogist.:rofl

On a serious note I just wonder how true boxing fans viewed him in the mid to late 50's. His predecessors being the 2 Jack's, and Joe Louis plus a few others we'll leave out of the equation.

Do you think folks raved about him then saying he would have beaten any or all of those guys in their primes? Or do think as I suspect, the myth has overtaken the reality?

If Marciano has a "mythical status" surely it's more to do with the era he lived in, rather than any serious rating of him as the greatest heavyweight.
I rarely see anyone say he belongs in the same company as Louis or Ali. It's almost unheard of.
To be fair, he probably was the best champion in the period between Louis and Ai.
The 1950s has perhaps become a mythical period in world history, especially in the way of American cultural icons.
I think Marciano was a good enough fighter to justify himself.
I think he was a lot more convincing than Floyd Patterson and more memorable than Charles and Walcot ... and not because he was white.
