Superstars ruin the sport. They attract casuals who know little about the sport, and you also see fighters change. When they're a nobody they'll fight anyone...then they become a star and suddenly they pick and choose. Santioning bodies and Networks allow and encourage this and you get a bunch of overrated guys with padded re ords that won't make the fights the real fans want. Even worse, you get b and c level fighters who get put in with top guys ( Guerrero, Maidana) and then these dumba$$e$ suddenly think they're shot callers. They take these long layoffs after a huge payday thinking they're some kind of hot commodity. Boxing can survive without casual fans... I actually think it would be better off without them.
Casuals DKSAB! They thought a midget was going to beat Floyd TBE Mayweather. Those clowns actually bet on Manny. What a bunch of idiots they were. Floyd got them to pay on PPV and then they lost in Vegas.
i talk about this all the time . flippin mayweather fight comes around n everyone talkin bout it, then they watch n say its so boring. and i tell them watch the fight on the weekends that arent on ppv there way better. after may pac there was kirkalnd canelo and ggg monroe way better value right there and casuals dont kno wuts goin on
The reason I made this thread is that I was surrounded by casuals at the Pac Floyd fight and they had no clue what they were looking at. They TOTALLY buy into whatever the announcers are saying. Frickin sheep mentality.
Here's the thing, trumpeting fights like Canelo/Kirkland and Golovkin/Monroe simply encourages cherry picking. Imagine if Canelo and Golovkin got huge pay days for those fights. There would be no motivation to fight anyone with a pulse as they could get big money to fight completely overmatched opponents.
I'm not sure if people have thought this through. What sport gets better by losing superstars and alienating causal fans? All that will do is make boxing a less lucrative sport. That in turn will lead to decrease in the overall talent level. As much as people hate Floyd, you need people like him in the sport.
Floyd makes boxing looks charming because of his money. People think it's great money in boxing until they learn more about it, then you hear "this is not sport-this is barbarous" BS.
You're dumb if you think otherwise. Show me a sport that doesn't have a lot of casuals and I'll show you a sport that is dying or dead.
casual fans keep any sport alive. superstars aren't bad for boxing, the only thing that's bad for boxing is having the choice to be a self-promoted fighter, or being able to call the shots. top fighter should have a choice to pick and choose who they fight but those choices should only be limited to fighters that are actually in the same class. floyd-guerrero, ortiz, etc. should never have happened because we all knew who was going to win before the bell even rang. i knew floyd was going to beat everyone they put in front of him since marquez. i always knew pacquiao wasn't in the same class.
so you are an authority on every sport are you , what happens when you discuss a certain sport with someone that knows more than you , hopefully you get belittled like you are doing right now to others . im sure there is plenty of posters on here that know a hell of a lot more than you , maybe you should take a moment and think about that .
