If I fight Golovkin, I will back up, take what hes got, and beat him up. Thats very interesting as Froch wanted nothing to do with Golovkin a year ago and admitted that he wouldnt be interested in pursuing a dangerous fight against him. Just swerve Golovkin like the plague. He punches like a mule. I dont need to be in with him. Dangerous fight, Froch said. Frochs promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, has confirmed that the fight is in negotiations, speaking with Daily Mail. Ive now spoken with Carl directly about this and he is interested. I only want him to take if hes genuinely motivated because it is a high risk-fight, Hearn said. Tom Loeffler confirmed that he has been in talks with Eddie Hearn about making what would be a tremendous fight, but Froch, as we have stated time and time again, is not committed to the sport any longer. Weve already asked for that fight. Gennady put in over 12,000 people in the [Forum], and Froch had 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium last year. There is no question; that would be a tremendous fight. Ive told Eddie Hearn many times that Gennady would move to 168 and fight [Froch], but Carl is not committed to whether hes going to fight again or whether hes going to retire. But, that would be a great fight as well, Loeffler said.
Froch has nothing to lose as far as his reputation is concerned. If he loses the fight, he's going to claim he was years past his best, and he walks away with a big payday anyway.
Will he make more than the 2 Groves fights? Because if he gets knocked out which I think he will, I'd think he would regret going into retirement like that. Right now he can walk around saying "I'm the guy who knocked out George Groves at Wembley in front of 80,000 people almost a year ago". You wouldn't want to finish that sentence with "then I got decapitated by a guy who is from a lower weight division".
:smoke I can laugh about it now. Not so much then. That was about 2 grand worth of a trip, with light depression setting in at about midnight local time in Nottingham on the Saturday. If this fight comes off, I hope Carl goes full c0cky SOB in interviews and pressers. All kinds of beat-him-up talk. Why? I want to see the bad boy in GGG. You know, a level above the sh|t talking he gave to Stevens for disrespecting him.
I don't think Froch was being serious when he said to swerve GGG like the plague. I think he exaggerated those comments on purpose due to all the hype he's been receiving. No doubt GGG punches hard but Froch has a ridiculous chin.
Let's just bask in the glory of this fight and hope it's made and hope boxing wins Cause there is one thing all knowledgeable boxing fans know this ain't gonna be a PAC/Floyd fiasco, this is gonna be a barnburner that Id happily pay x2 what the PPV costs to watch
