Groves needed a rest more than a new trainer, that's all.
He went straight back in after two hard fights with Froch and was mentally spent.
His pride wouldn't allow him to take a rest, he switched promoter, changed trainer, he was managing other fighters too, you can't do that and not expect to be burnt out at some point.

This little rest would have recharged him and this world title fight is exactly the challenge he needed and it is a great incentive for much bigger fights if he wins.

Groves will look much better next time out in my opinion if he has spent his time wisely and was getting the right rest and relaxation he needed.

Paddy knows his **** and is a good trainer, Groves is fine. Let's not forget Paddy was in previous camps with him when Booth headed up proceedings.

Backing Groves to do the business against Jack in the states. He was caught cold against Edwards and got caught with a rocket of a shot, so I think people underestimating him need to have a closer look.

Groves stoppage between 4-6 for me.

I thought groves changed trainer before both Froch fights, not after?

Yes maybe I didn't explain myself very well, add all those factors together and over time it takes it toll.

Not convinced by paddy, whatever people think about booth, his resume speaks for itself. If your a groves fan, you would certainly want him with booth rather than paddy.

It seems Groves is more interested in promoting other fighters, playing xbox and selling his snapbacks than actually fighting these days. For people calling him to go back to Booth. I think that relationship is permanently done. They tried to shaft each other and succeeded in doing just that. Concerning paddy - I'm not convinced of his training acumen either..

The one thing I do agree with is that Groves would have beaten Froch first time round with Booth in his corner, this is only due to his ability to reign Groves in and curb his excitement.

People too easily dismiss the impact that Paddy had on the Degale, Smith and Johnson camps. If you listen to Booth speak during this period, there are many of Paddy's traits/sayings in there.

Also, people were quick to point out how much Groves used to mimic Booth/Haye and often seemed a clone of them. If you believe he suddenly has this belief that all he needs is somebody to carry a bucket and pass him water you are very much mistaken. Paddy gives off the Irish hippy image well, he comes across as somebody who drifts from result to result while being happy and philosophical - this isn't the case, it's an illusion. Paddy know his onions. He likes people to just think of him as the friendly harmless Irishman.

Groves had several sloppy performances under Booth, often forgotten these days.

A good rest under him, he has the beating of Jack. Him and Paddy make a very good team, and the improvements that have taken place in Swindon haven't yet been on display...
