Plus the headlocks weakens the chin.. headlocks happen in boxing but it shouldn't be used excessively.. minimal arm clinching is part of the sport too.. but the difference is it's not used as a sport to weaken the other guy or knock him down.

There was a lot of clinching, but Wlad couldn't miss with the left hook and jab!

Exactly. Without Povetkin blind rushing in head low, forcing wlad to catch him, Wlad would have landed even more, and likely stopped Povetkin.

Povetkin has no answer to tall rangy fighters, and that's why IMO he loses on points to Wilder, even.

Disgusting fight, one of the worst things I've ever seen in boxing. It's one thing to bend the rules, but when a fighter sets out to seriously injure their opponent because they can't win fair and square then it's a sickening disgrace. What Wlad did was right up there with Tyson biting Holyfields ear, James Butlers sucker punch and Luis Resto's loaded gloves. But what make this worse is the ref was in on it too and allowed Wlad to cheat and try and seriously injure Povetkin as he pleased. This sport is dangerous enough without scumbags like Wlad and his paid off refs staining the sport like they did that night.

NObody here denies that Povetkin lost his first encounter with Wlad, but of all the big boys out there Povetkin is for sure the most deserving challenger out there for Wlad.
I for one would love to see a rematch:Wlad vs Povetkin II.

klitschko uses the same tactics- cheater

    whats the common denominator?

Is it anti white bias or anti european bias

Povetkin loses 10 out of 10 times to Wlad, even with a fair ref

I'm not going to say that win didn't matter whatsoever, but there is an asterisk over it and always will be due to poor refereeing.

Also, take into account that Povetkin looks more motivated now and has been on a purple patch lately whereas Wlad has declined.

Do you also have an asterisk by Tyson Fury's win over Cunningham? Only reason he won that was was his blatant fouling.

So Wlad takes those savage hooks on the chin for 12 rounds does he?:nut Riding his back was the only way he he knew how. Make him box clean with proper ref for full 3 mins and he wouldn't take the fight.

Wlad doesn't see past 3 rounds with the Jennings or Brewster ref.

you still don't realise that Povetkin was just as much to blame as Wlad for all those clinches? had he not rushed in with his head at Wlad's chest, a lot of those clinches wouldn't have happened

Pov loses to Wlad 10 out of 10 times because he doesn't have the footspeed to close distance and the head movement to avoid Wlad's jab, plain and simple

You're talking nonsense and you obviously can't read a fight.

Wlad activily reached out and grabbed Povetkin at mid range. He hadn't even got up close and Wlad was still reaching out and grabbing him.

When he got closer he got his neck twisted and had his back pressed into the canvas.

If you have to constantly cheat to beat somebody, that means the other guy is better than you.
Wlad knew himself he wasn't good enough to out box Povetkin.

He should be forced to rematch him within the rules but he would never do it as he is not a true champion.

just like he will never fight Pulev or Fury? :nut

btw, why has Fury gone so quiet since Wlad said he is next? :think

I'm not saying it was a great performance by Wlad, but he clearly beat Povetkin, his face said everything after the fight
