Early in his career, certain posters incorrectly referred to him as "feather fisted" and the like. It is true that early on, he had more of an amateur style and threw a lot of pitty-pat punches, but he always had some power.

It had become clear in his last three fights that he is now actively pursuing knock-outs, and he has real power. He now has a 70% knock-out ratio, and one of the best records in the division. Say what you will about Charr, Takam and Perez, they all have good to excellent chins, and Povetkin has whacked them all out of there.

Lets get the farce with Wilder made and then a Wladdy rematch.

    Ya'll musta forgot!

in all fairness he never used to be able to punch

I saw him fight a terribly out of shape Rahman years ago (Hassim could barely walk to the ring) he had him on the ropes and was teeing off on him and if he was a big puncher he wouldve sent him to the canvas

Fast forward past the Wlad fight and hes knocking out guys who i believed were far above his level . . . . . i dont wanna say PEDs, id prefer to give the dude credit for getting his ass into gear and getting in shape but I wouldnt be surprised in all honesty

He used to have an amateur style...punching for points.

I am not naïve. It is entirely possible he is on PEDS. But I always thought he could be a bigger puncher than he was showing, so this doesn't surprise me.

    This.

    He's a sturdy puncher, that's it. He's not a bomber.

I would definitely say he's enough of a power puncher to hurt and put Wilder on his face or back. And he no doubt has the skill to get that done. Man I can't wait for that fight!

    Povetkin stops Wilder in 5

Povetkin fought top level opposition early in his career. He fought Larry Donald in his 12th fight, Chris Byrd in his 13th , and Eddie Chambers in his 14th.

Before that Povetkin fought Friday Ahunanya in his 7th fight ( 6 rd UD), and Friday has only been stopped once. U.S Olympian Jason Estrada while a bust as a pro has shown to have a good chin and be very durable (UD 10).

Where as Wilder intentionally handpicks opponents with weak chins that have been Knocked out 10 times. And when he steps up he still makes sure they have a glass chin like Audley Harrison and ffs Eric Molina.

You forgot Mike Perez is Cuban.

And as we all know, Cubans have glass jaws.

Marco Huck smelled so bad that is was a source of distraction and was problematic for Povetkin to get close. Huck intentionally didn't shower for 4 months or something. And Povetkin isnt one to make excuses. He didn't complain when Klitschko held him for half the fight in a clinch and fought really dirty.Hucks stench was so bad that it was making Povetkins eyes water.

He took some huge shots from Abdusalamov just fine and had never been stopped previously so I wouldn't say he was glass jawed

I talked to Eddie Chambers a few years ago, and I asked about who the biggest puncher was he faced (DaVarryl Williamson).
He said that Peter had crude power, but that much of a pure punch. He said that Wlad has got a fitting name with Steelhammer. And he said that Pov doesn't have so much pop, but because of his accuracy it makes him so dangerous.

In all seriousness what kind of PED's would turn a feather fisted fighter into a power puncher? Would love to hear an explanation on this
