Do you think Foreman vs Moorer was a lucky punch? Or is Moorer Mad?

I don't think it was a lucky punch in a way that it wasnt Foreman throwing a blind looping haymaker. He was catching moorer a lot through the fight, just not clean. He did however use the same combo (left right) for a decent amount of time and the ending one two was boxing beauty.

fOREMAN says he planned on doing just that. throwing 60% power for the first 9 and then turning it up.

Moorer clearly hates foreman tries to say he planned it.

But Teddy cleary makes note of it in the corner.

    Foreman: Conman?
    or
    Moorer: GoneMad?

Moorer is just a spitefully sore loser IMO,...that ko wasn't at all a "lucky punch"...in fact it was a calculated, deliberately placed bomb that did the trick.

It's Moorer's fault for standing right in front of George, especially since Moorer was known to not have a strong chin at heavyweight. The punch did not look devastating. I think a lot of guys could have taken it, but not Moorer.

The Foreman's "luck" was that Moorer was stupid enough to stand in front of him... And the Moorer's "bad luck" was that Foreman's punch had power enough to knock him out ....

Moorer is an idiot and a sore looser. Atlas kept telling him to box from the outside and any intelligent fighter with a weak chin would know you do not disrespect Foreman's power.

It is Moorer's fault he can't take a punch to the face and the fact he was in Foreman's range that night.

Foreman had heavy hands. He did not really need any luck. Just patience.

Did he mean to knock Moorer out at that moment or was he just looking to score with that right? He threw harder punches but sometimes the hardest punches are the hardest punch to land. I think he was not looking to load up, I think he was just looking to find a home for that right. to just land it. And he tried to land it a lot. But it landed sweet anyway and it did the job.

Would it knock anyone out? I think if a fighter relaxes for just a moment that a punch lands it is a moment too long. If it lands in the right place you can go. Anyone can go but George was an unusual puncher so I would say yes anyone would go if it was a direct hit on the right spot and the recipient is not alert.

I think George only wanted to establish accuracy because he believed once he could land accurately he could stun Moorer and then finish him off. He was getting pounded but he stayed patient. George continued feeling his way in without full force but he got that sweet connection on the way. It often happens that way.

Absolutely. But there is such thing as an "unlucky" punch. That's the one the guy on the other end got caught with.

I have never been hit with a lucky puch, nor have I seen one. Not sure what it is really and how does it differ from a normal punch?

Yes, unfortunately "lucky" punches count too and Moore got knocked out. Foreman was trying the whole fight to land such a "lucky" punch, because it was about the only chance he had. If he's so mad about it, maybe Moore should try telling his sob story to John David Jackson.

If you watch the round prior to the ko George opens up on Moore with lots of left hooks and appears to hurt him. To me this was a planned attack to get Moore thinking about the Foreman left with the idea he may stop moving away from his right. The next round Moore stood flat footed and Foreman lowered the boom.

According to Jim Lampley, Moorer told him he was out on his feet from the first 1-2. The second 1-2 finished him.

It's tough to see because there is such little time between the two 1-2 combos, but I do think there is some truth when Foreman said he just was trying to get him in position for the right hands by landing left hooks to the body (he also landed a nice left hook to the head earlier in round 10). And Foreman did land a pretty decent number of heavy shots throughout the fight. Moorer took them fairly well until the 10th.

As said above, the "luck" involved was that Moorer was foolish enough to stand in Foreman's range and give him that opportunity. And "luck" in the sense that I wouldn't bet on it happening again if they had a rematch. Moorer would have played it extra safe.

But Foreman did land good shots throughout. He was losing of course, but it wasn't some fight where he getting shutdown defensively. Look at how many heavy shots Foreman landed before the ending.
