The fight is controversial. The injury, the compubox, etc. That doesn't mean Floyd didn't win, because he did imo; however, the fight is still controversial, so that alone will make it a conversation for a while.

Here's the complete breakdown on the injury. I know a lot of you will believe things that have been twisted and embellished without hearing the full story, so you end up having inaccurate views. I want to help you guys know the full story. I've done all the research, and some of you have not. It's not insult. I've done it for you so you don't have to. I hate to bring it up, but it's really upsetting to see so many of you guys not really know the truth of it all. So many of you guys are saying his team is contracting themselves when they are not. People are taking their words out of context or are twisting them. Here is the FULL story. Hopefully this prevents some people from falling into believing all the misconstrued "truths" and can enlighten a few.

There was a jet ski collision or incident in 2009, and that's where he first got a shoulder tear in his cuff. Pacquiao said that he rested it, and then it healed. He didn't have problems with it after he allowed it to heal. So, it's not as if he fought with the injury since Oscar De La Hoya.

In sparring for the Mayweather fight, a collision happened where he tore his right shoulder again. Now, rotator cuffs are tricky. Not all of them need surgery. In both cases for Manny, rest alone would allow it to heal, like when he hurt it the first time in 2009. The doctor told him when he injured it in sparring that he would have to rest for 40 days, but this is when he's in the middle of intense training 2 1/2 to 3 weeks from the fight. Manny obviously didn't want to just draw out of the fight. So when Manny visited to get an MRI, the doctor gave him a cortisone shot in his shoulder. Pacquiao liked it and said his shoulder felt 100% with the shot, so the doctor told him if he rested it as much as he could up to the fight, then he would give Pacquiao a similar numbing shot on fight night.

Pacquiao agreed to that because it really was the only way he felt comfortable fighting and not pull out. So, Pacquiao sent his sparring mates homes early, quit sparring, shadowboxing, didn't use his right hand much at all up to the fight. It is healing obviously because he's resting it. However, Pacquiao said he still felt pain with it especially with the power jab and hook. That makes sense. The doctor said Pac would need 40 days for it to heal and Pac had only 14 till the fight. So, it healed some but not all the way. That's why he still needed the shot. He described it as a 50/60% usage without a shot and 100% usage with the shot.

On fight night, he couldn't get the shot even though being allowed the shot was the very reason he didn't post pone the fight. The commissioner (I think it was Aguilar) argued with Pacquiao, his doctors, and USADA officials who all were aware of the injury and were about to give him the shot. Aguilar told Pacquiao to throw the right hand right then and there. Pac said he still felt some pain, but that it'll be okay because he could still use it, just not 100%.

Aguilar said he didn't give Pac the shot because he didn't want Pacquiao to worsen the injury since it would be numbed, but that doesn't make sense to me. If that's one of the reasons you disallowed the shot then why let him fight in the first place? He's going to worsen it regardless, so you might as well let him have the shot. Lol, but that's neither here nor there.

Now, Dr. Elattrache detailed Pac's injury in an interview. He said there are four tendons connected to the shoulders. When Pac visited him the first time, 2 of the 4 tendons were partially torn from that sparring session collision a few weeks before the fight. Pac rested his shoulder which allowed it to heal some but not 100%. In the fight, Pac said the 3rd round he was beginning to feel pain and the 4th round was where it got bad to the point it began to inhibit him. He said the pain got severe when he threw the 15 punch combination. Dr. Elattrache said after the fight when he looked at his shoulder, it worsened (no surprise). Instead of the 2 tendons just being partially torn, Pacquiao had actually completely tore off one tendon from the shoulder and the other one tore worse. Pacquiao said you could see him back off from the 15 punch combo. I theorize that right there was the moment Pacquiao completely tore off the tendon and severely torn the second one. Dr. Elattrache said he had to actually reattach Pacquiao's tendon to his shoulder, the one that detached. See, if it was just a tear Pacquiao probably could have rested it with no surgery like the previous two times (in 2009, before the fight), but since the tendon got completely torn off in the fight, that's when he needed to actually get surgery.

Same thing happened to Kobe. He went into the game where two tendons had tears, but when he dunked the ball they completely tore off the bone and then he needed the surgery.

Imagine spraining your ankle a few years ago. You rest it, ice it everyday, and it heals. Then, two years later, you re-sprain it. You go to the doctor and he's able to tell that you've sprained it before, that's why it's called an "old injury". He tells you to rest it. You do for a little bit, but then you go on a run and due to you running with an injured foot, you end up completely breaking it. So now, instead of resting it, the doctor has to go in and perform surgery on it. That's an an-alogy of what happened.

Hopefully this breakdown clears things up. None of this is embellished, I promise. After gathering all the research on it from his own doctor, Pacquiao, etc, this is what it has come down to. I can provide the interviews with the doctor and Pacquiao if you want. The doctor even has an animation of what happened to Manny to provide a visual and clearer understanding.
