Had James by a round, having given him the twelfth. However after 3 he was 5 up for me. What the **** was going on in his corner? He clearly was the bigger puncher and the stronger man yet boxed on the back foot and threw away rounds. Seemed to be flagging physically too.

Get rid of your cheerleader/biggest fan and get a proper trainer.

He won't sack Jim - Degale loves him and is very close to his family.

It's not that he flags physically but that for all this stuff about him being a great boxer he has a non-existent jab and basically does the same thing over and over: drop the head and loop the left over with full power.

He can't keep doing that over and over again because it becomes too predictable and he would get countered.

DeGale is only a top boxer in a defensive sense. Good head movement, good feet on the retreat and circling etc. But going forward, he's limited. Even fighting from a distance and in terms of picking up the points he struggles.

    Spot on.

It seemed Degales corner lulled him into a false sense of security within the fight. Hardly any urgency at all and the momentum was very much with Dirrell up until the 11th.

I was gonna make a thread prior to the fight about McDonnell and didn't bother

Don't think Chucky would get rid of him , the seem like a father/son combo

Was exactly the same in the Groves fight, all I can remember was the utter tripe he was talking about going into the final round
