Is it Monzon, Hagler or Robinson? I don't really know because the only guy I've watched extensively is Hagler. It's amazing to me how good he was. What about Monzon though? He was the only middleweight champ in the world at the time and never lost his title. Robinson is probably too small to beat these guys H2H at 160. Right?
Hopkins deserves consideration as well, disappointed he's not on the poll. How can you do a greatest MW of all time thread without Hopkins :-( It's like making a greatest HW of all time thread without Joe Louis. atsch
Hopkins I just don't think he's on that level. I find it hard to believe that Hagler would ever get dominated the way that Hopkins was by Jones. To me his win over Trinidad is like a lost win. It's an amazing win, the way he just destroyed Tito. But he's not as good as Hagler. No way.
But in the same tone i can say Hagler lost to PAST PRIME WW MOVING UP IN LEONARD...Tito was the favorite in that fight with Hopkins
Most people feel like Hagler was past prime too. Not just Leonard. And I said, I doubt that Hagler would ever be totally dominated like Hopkins was. Hagler-Leonard was a controversial decision. Meaning that nobody dominated the fight and could have gone either way. Jones-Hopkins was a total outclassing.
Sugar Ray Robinson knocked out some tough mother ****ers, built like tree trunks, compared to Robinson who had a thinner more athletic frame. I'd think that type of power tips the favor in his direction in match ups against Monzon or Hagler.
Jones Jr. winning a wide decision over a Green Hopkins has what bearing? Some of you use that argument like it was two guys at their peak. Jones Jr. was already far more advanced, and at the top level. Hopkins was not yet an A level guy when he fought Hopkins the first time.
Hopkins was almost 40 when he schooled Tito man...and Jones did not school Hopkins he won but did not clown or school him
