T. Hearns vs Mayweather Jr. who wins?

I think Hearns would win. Too many physical advantages over the smaller Mayweather. Hearns by ko.

Pretty much the worst matchup for Mayweather at WW.

I don't rank Floyd especially high H2H at 147 anyway as opposed to 130-140.

 

It's easy to not like Mayweather on a personal basis, and let it cloud one's thinking on just how good Mayweather is, especially defensively. But watching films of the man fighting there's no doubting what he can do in the ring.

I remember the trouble Benitez gave Hearns. I think Mayweather is superior defensively and better offensively to Benitez. Hearns length,boxing ability and power give, Mayweather trouble. But I don't see a knockout coming as Mayweather is too fast and too good defensively.

I think it's a tight fight with Hearns squeaking by, much like against Benitez. Hearns length allows him to control the fight. I don't feel real confident in this prediction either. I'm basing this fight at 147

 

Floyd Mayweather as a WW would never see the day he would beat the much taller and vastly harder puncher Tommy Hearns, or Ray Leonard for that matter...NADA...

 

May weather has practically never been knocked down in his career and has shown some of the greatest defense of all time..and people are picking hearns by kayo. Talk about rose colored glasses.

 

Defence is important but it's also over rated, as I have yet to see defense without any offense win fights.

The best non boxing example I can think of is in hockey, you could have the greatest goalie in the world playing for you, but if the opponent throws enough shots on net, sooner or later something will come his way that he can't see. And if Floyd's trying to avoid getting hit with a jab, one or twice during the fight, he's going to get nailed. Hell I didn't see him even avoiding Pac's shots, Pac just never threw enough. Tommy would and what he would throw would be far, far harder than anything he'd be throwing.

Also I can't really think of many fighters other than say Oscar, who gave him all kinds of problems and was way past prime, having a longer reach than him.

So I could see Hearn's KOing Maywether, not sure if he would or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. Either way, if he doesn't KO him he'd still win a comfortable decision.

FWIW, I'd also pick SRL to beat Mayweather, and I think it's pretty much a pick em fight between Mayweather and Benitez. Both have great defenses, but I think Benitez had more significantly more power at 154 than did Mayweather. 140lb would be interesting though. That would be a tough call.

 

The minute Tommy hits Floyd, within the 1st minute of the fight, it's over.Mayweather starts doing a funny little dance, and goes to the canvas, Hearns too, too much of an obstacle for him to overcome, that defense won't do him no good against the speed and reach of the Motor City Cobra.

 

Floyd might be able to last the distance if he fights a super defensive/conservative fight, in which case Hearns just outpoints him with the jab. I actually see him doing worse than Benitez, thanks to his borderline Joe Bugner-esque unwillingness to take chances.

Floyd would not last 36/45 minutes with Tommy Hearns.
