It's a simplified way of looking at things.

In order to reach that level, it's extremely rare to not be good in both areas. Pacquiao is no defensive specialist for a top-level fighter but even he can show nice head and upper body movement, and foot movement to avoid shots.

Mayweather has a low workrate but he is accurate and has just about every punch in the book.
