:good I can't see how anyone can give Brook criticism for fighting Gavin. If you look at the circumstances:

    - The main event of the card was going to be DeGale v Dirrell but Matchroom lost the purse bid.

-5-6 weeks out Matchroom had paid all this money to undercard fighters, they needed a main event to replace it to make it seem PPV worthy. Of the top Matchroom guys Froch and Quigg was still injured, so Brook stepped in despite only fighting 3 weeks earlier- a fight he was going to have AS WELL AS, not INSTEAD OF the two fights he's fighting in August and November.

    - With 5-6 weeks notice they needed to find an opponent who the IBF would accept, would be willing to split the 1.1m they had left to spend on the show with Brook.

    - The top ranked available IBF contender being that Khan ducked and Bradley went the IBF route was Frankie Gavin, who was ready to fight as he had been in training for a fight in May 9th with Chris van Heerden and being that he was the top ranked IBF challenger and Khan would've continued to duck Brook- Brook would've had to fight Gavin anyway before the year is out or vacate his belt.

Don't understand why trolls such as ellerbe struggle to understand this.

In the UFC where there is just one belt and one ranking system it is easy to judge a fighters worth and the significance of a potential match up, but with boxing's many problems - four belts in each division, money being the main factor for match ups and not competitive legacy defining fights, rubbish ranking systems, etc, it is harder to judge how good a fighter is or how relevant a particular fight is. You therefore have to look at more comparative and relative aspects to judge a fighter or a potential fight.

However, expecting some of the people on here to understand context and nuance is like trying to get your Granddad to understand cunnilingus.

:lol::lol: Although, in fairness to ellerbe, the self-proclaimed 'master of euros/brits' (in other words the people who bash him round the forum), Gavin could become a top pound for pound fighter and still be a bum- Calzaghe for example carries the bum title for him every time his name comes up.

I think he suffers from a serious dose of a la butthurtness

    It's possible Gavin drops Kelly.

Kell Brook DID get knocked down by the immortal Karl David.

    It's quite possible.

His glove touched down when he missed a wild punch because he was green and throwing wildly, a punch has never put iron chinned Special K on the floor.

If the roles were reversed, OP. Would you make a thread like this?

    Ask yourself, are you biased?

The roles wouldn't be reserved though. Don't you understand that? Brook would not fight someone as poor as Molina in a voluntary defense.

With Wilder's glass jaw, an upset is always possible.:yep

Hell, even morbidly obese Dustin Nichols had this joke on the canvas:

i like how the original poster makes it sound like gavin was the only one left.....bradley was ready to take the fight, rios was ready to take the fight....thruman is always ready and no he doesn't have to fight on may 30th.....he could have fought a thruman in june but as usual he needs to pick a bum
