One of the most special fights in recent history.

The American Boxer vs The British Bulldog

38-0 vs 43-0. 81 win streak between them both.

P4P #1 WW champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr vs Lineal champion JWW/EX WW champion Ricky Hatton.

2 very very different boxers going at it at the summit of their respective careers.

30 year old Mayweather vs 29 year old Ricky Hatton.

It was actually a great fight. FLoyd essentially fought Hatton's fight for most of the bout, and Hatton's relentless pressure really forced FLoyd to fight in 4th/5th gear compared to most of his fights when he's cruising in 2nd gear.

Manny steward said it best after the fight: Hatton brought the best out of Mayweather.

I rate that win highly for Floyd. I think Hatton will probably make the hall of fame, and at the time he was the JWW kingpin that had campaigned a few fights at WW already. He was widely considered a top 10 P4P fighter at the time he took on Mayweather.

Mayweather was able to outfight him on the inside, which almost nobody thought was possible for May.

He showed us another dimension to his game, spectacular fight.

Mayweather dragging up a shot blown up Hatton and beating him with Joe Cortez as his tag team partner in his back garden, was immediately blown out of the water when Cortez joined forces with Bernard Hopkins, dragging a shot blown up Calzaghe to his back garden.....unfortunatley, they bit off more than they could chew and Calzaghe introduced the Yank to bum fun in front of a global worldwide audience of millions. :happy:happy:happy

There was no tag team and he certainly didn't "drag anyone up"

It was a very fair fight, May was just better.

Hatton was a Jr Wleterweight- and went back down to Jr Welter after the fight.

If Cortez wasn't corrupt then why did he allow Hopkins to do at will to 'Zaggers, the exact same thing he stopped The Hitman from doing.

Neither result would've winner would've been different of course but he ref'd them the opposite way round, 'Zaggers would have won by TKO and Mayweather via SD :nod

140 was his fighting weight- hence he looked like krap v Collozo at 147. Hatton was well past his best by then fool.

    Not even close.

Hatton was good at 47, just got bested by a better man.

Calzaghe also won on my card, if it means anything.

    Great fight.

It was HUGE at the time (2007). Not as big as Mayweather-Pacquiao or Mayweather-De la Hoya, but bigger than all the other fights. It was the undefeated welterweight champ against the undefeated light welterweight champ (Hatton also had a belt at 147). This is definitely an underrated fight.
