I agree completely...But that, and Mayweather's racial slurs listed above don't invalidate what Campbell was trying to say.

Mayweather - Maidana was exciting because Maidana made it exciting.

Mayweather - Zab Judah was exciting because Zab made it exciting.

Mayweather is hated for so many reasons that to narrow it down to race is like saying people hate being burned alive because it would ruin their hairdo.

I think they kind of do.

Nate is saying it's primarily racism against blacks that leads to black fighters like Mayweather being disliked.

When the reality is Mayweather is often just an *******.

As I mentioned, I support Mayweather, but I won't hear anyone saying he isn't an *******. He basically goes out of his way to be an ******* to get people interested in him.

Yes, he's conflating all Asian cultures. Many would find this moronic and offensive.

It's not just about Floyd. He is just using this particular situation with Floyd as an example of a larger issue. It's in many ways similar to the problem Jack Johnson had and the problem Ali had, if we want to keep it to boxing. America, in a general sense, has always preferred black men to "stay in their place." Charismatic figures who are "defiant" AND successful tend to motivate others to follow suit. "Order" can't be maintained that way.

Nate is saying there are a LOT of Americans who want to see this black man "put in his place" BEFORE he rides off into the sunset a billionaire and most importantly a WINNER. America (in reality) was never built on such a premise.

If he decides to try an break Marciano's record, I suspect things will get really serious for Floyd.

OK. Well we don't disagree. He's speaking candidly, openly and honestly. Hence, it's "the truth" and it is "his truth." The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. This is not to be confused with everything is verifiable fact...check pg 2 of this source or that, for example. He is speaking honestly (truthfully) from his experiences and his observations.

Mayweather certainly is capable of being a moron and an *******. In truth, Holmes was kind of surly at the best of times, too. Ditto Whiatker. But Campbell was right when he cited GC-Holmes as an example of racist attitude being prevalent in boxing...and I don't think that racism has disappeared entirely even today. Mayweather's personality (or lack, thereof) doesn't alter that.

Nate's being very...well not naive but extreme. While he's right to point out that racism is still in boxing, his attitude is wrong and he's going to need to improve that and cite better examples if he doesn't want to come across as just another misunderstood angry black guy

For a lot of people, it is racism. That's all around boxing. I have noticed though how the black fighters are typically portrayed as the villain. I think a lot of it is subconscious.
