Scar doesnt seem to know the SMW division at all and has been picked up for massive mistakes many a time.

Johnson was a very faded boiled down fighter when Froch won a Mdec over him, thats the same Johnson who lost to Sheika in a boxoff to face Calzaghe when prime, so at SMW even a win for Calzaghe like Sheika goes above Johnson.
Groves was of a similar level to starie who Calzaghe beat
Abraham wasnt as good a SMW as Veit
Bute was a good win for Froch, but no better than Lacy and I would have favoured Lacy to have beaten him.
Taylor did nothing at SMW and was on a run of 1-2 and not better as a SMW win than Mkertchyan at the weight
Pascal also was not a top SMW and lost to Hopkin who Calzaghe beat
Dirrell is not a better win than Reid

Add all the other top SMWs Calzaghe beat like Mitchell, Brewer, Woodhall, undefeated prime Kessler, Eubank, prime Bika to name a few

Of course you forget to add the word "ancient" in front of Johnson. And you forget to mention that Taylor was a blown-up punch-drunk middleweight. And that Abraham was a middleweight gatekeeper with no good wins on his resume.

Calzaghe's best wins are Kessler, Hopkins, 31-year-old Eubank, Bika (a guy Froch never seemed to want any part of, probably because he almost beat Ward), Reid (who was in his prime), and Lacy (a real SMW in his prime).

That was the same Johnson whose victim, Calzaghe went twelve rounds with and got knocked down in the process years after he was got knocked out by Johnson.

I agree that the win could grow over time, i was one of the few people i know of who gave Groves a chance. But, apart from the Froch performances he has done little of note on the world stage.

Agree in that he has the beating of Abraham and Stielgitz and am 100% confident he does a number on Jack but at the moment he doesnt warrant being labelled as a great career win.

Agree with what you are saying though.

21 consecutive title defenses against who? 90 percent of those title defences was of his WBO belt which wasn't even a recognised world title belt until 2006. Then when you consider the profession most of those 21 opponents were chosen from, you realise that Joe's title run was nothing to brag about.

Calzaghe won that. Just like how he would have beaten Froch while he was still fighting :deal

    Different levels.

I'll just let you get too it Herol, you have your agenda. I'm a huge Froch fan, and was actually following his career at the time. I watched him phone Calzaghe live on air.

Amongst the the public, no one cared for that fight. The demand came following Calzaghe's retirement.

Didn't Groves hand DeGale his first loss?. Didn't he prove he belongs there in his first fight against Froch?. Woodhall, Brewer, Reid and Mitchell!?, are you even serious man?.

90% of those defenses were against no-hoper WBO clowns. Not all his opponents were ****, but lets keep this in perspective. 21 title defences by Floyd are in whole different level of quality than Calzaghe's.

Calzaghe vs Froch, both at their prime would be simply for Calzaghe, would go as simple as vs Lacy.
