MAB had about a 5 year span where he was among the best fighters the lower weight classes had ever seen. I mean the best of the best type.

Losing to THE FIGHTER OF THE DECADE prime for prime is no shame.

Bigger and faster, but not stronger. Barrera was extremely physically strong. And the body punches, my god they were amazing.

I don't think so. He wanted no part in going toe to toe with Corrales. His gameplan in that fight was brilliant and supremely well executed, but his caution with Corrales demonstrated that he didn't want or could not go bang for bang with the bigger punchers.

Yes Floyd would be stronger,he is very strong for his size, everyone he fights says this,in his 4th division he is pushing people around the ring

Yea but he dropped Corrales 5 times and stopped him, made him spin like a top..Toe to toe, means what? that proves nothing. Floyd is an intelligent fighter and is to smart,to goodand to big to lose to Barrera

Floyd will shut out Barrera worse than what he did to JMM.

I don't remember him being very physically strong at the lower weights. Barrera at 130 would be the stronger man and would bully him on the inside.

He stopped almost everyone he fought at 130 man and Barrera would be the smaller, slower, weaker fighter...

He had power. I would never deny that. But "serious power" I don't think so. His refusal to go toe to toe and stop Corrales much earlier than he did was part of the gameplan. A brilliant gameplan designed around his abilities. Which included he pretty much could dominate Corrales in every facet of boxing except power. He conceded that he couldn't punch with the punchers in that fight.

So no. He was never a "serious puncher".

OP has it all wrong the older 130 Barrera was not an aggressive inside fighter. Its Barrera's jab and patience would give Floyd problems. The only fighter Floyd's ever fought that had a great jab was Oscar.

Well Barrera was a master class technician. I believe his left hook to the body would be a huge problem for Floyd. But he's also great with the jab and the patience.

It wasn't just his body shots that made him so great. He was a complete fighter, a great fighter, a warrior, a never give up fighter.

Thing is he did not have the size or length to bother Floyd like Oscar did

Anybody who thinks a fighter - any fighter - can throw left hooks to the body against prime Mayweather and not continually eat some serious right-hand counters is clearly watching a different sport to me.

Barrera would suffer just like JMM and Manny, for the simple fact they are to small and can not get in to sustain a proper attack.
