Looks like if Froch decides to continue, the fight will happen!

froch ko, 5 inch reach, proven ko power at the weight, better resume then GGG. Though all 4 outcomes of the fight are possible I'm sticking with froch.

if martin murray can go 10 rounds, then froch will be able to go 12 imo

Really don't know, I'm leaning towards Froch purely because GGG is unproven at 168. I know it will be a war though.

The problem for GGG is that, while I believe he's a better boxer than Froch skill wise (better jab, better defense, footwork), he doesn't really have the tools to employ those skills effectively. Froch has got 5" of reach on him (and GGG doesn't posses the speed to nullify this), so he won't be able to take this fight from the outside, he'll have to make it into a brawl.

And Froch for certain will stand his ground against GGG, he won't suddenly lose the workrate after he gets tagged like his previous opponents who couldn't handle his power at 160, there will be return fire.

If Golovkin carries his punch (like all the reports from sparringpartners say he does) it will probably end by stoppage or wide, multi KD UD for GGG.
Tough as Froch is he can't brawl with Golovkin, and GGG isn't easily outboxable like AA. In fact he's technically clearly better as Froch.

I know I've underestimated Froch before, but haven't done it for a long time. Guys who believe it would end like Bute have missed the part where Golovkin has at least a very good chin, won't go deer in the headlights fighting in hostile environments and where he levelled Bute in the ams with pillow gloves and headgear.

That's the question, but the fight is at 168 where his power is unproven and Froch is one of the toughest guys at his weight. I'd bet that Froch probably could take his power, but really it's anybody's guess.

I've offered a fervent prayer to the boxing gods that this fight happens and am giving serious thought to experimenting with animal sacrifice just to cover all the bases (I've a feeling the gods of boxing are primal fkrs).

The result? - could be any of the 4, which is, of course, what makes it such a great fight. I'm going for the GGG UD.. tentatively. Golovkin is the more technically proficient fighter and I see him using his skills more than we are accustomed to in this fight to neutralise Frochs reach. Despite the questions raised by some over GGGs stamina in the wake of the Monroe fight, he has demonstrated the ability to sustain his workrate in a number of his longer fights (Murray, Ouma, Stevens) and I don't see this as a critical issue - though I do think that he will both be quite conservative in the first half of the fight and invest heavily in bodywork knowing of the Cobras legendary stamina.

Helluva a fight, whichever way it goes. :bbb

    War Cobra! War GGG!

I tend to agree with Koba. But really, in a fight like this... we will get to find out the answer to the question "Who is the Real GGG?"

Is the real GGG the guy who occasionally shows superlative skills, and in a dangerous fight will he keep his head about him and focus on those skills? Or is he now in love with his own power, and going to go for a highlight reel KO the second he feels he has an advantage? Is going to want to slug it out, and show everyone how tough he is?

In the former scenario, GGG by UD. If he plays it responsibly the whole fight and avoids angles that give Carl shots at his chin with full extension right hands and keeps his chin tucked as per usual and shoulders the hooks... Golovkin should be able to easily weave and counter, keep low, keep Carl off balance with his jab and close distance. Golovkin has the edge in close, by a good margin. UD GGG by a good margin.

On the other hand, if Carl fights tall and baits GGG in to a long range firefight the fight looks very different if Golovkin starts winging shots from too far out. Or starts going for a highlight reel shot. Or if Carl can just keep throwing at the right spots to keep GGG on the defensive, and get impatient and make a mistake from too far out. Froch via KO. Or maybe UD via KD if GGG's chin really is granite.

But I doubt GGG can win this one by KO, and I doubt Froch can win via decision at least with out KD's.

if you go with goat, i make a banging curry.

i really have no clue with this 1. froch will try to keep ggg at bay with his jab, how it all unfolds depends on how each deals with the other's power. (i read an article in a fitness magazine regarding froch's training regime for the groves rematch, he weight trained more than in the past which he felt increased his power.) at some stage, however, they'll go to war. can't wait.

Really difficult to predict how this will go but I have gone with GGG by TKO. I think he is the better boxer and will therefore outbox Carl and land more punches. Froch's defence is quite poor, he fights back when hit and hurt so I think GGG will hit him with quite a few big, big shots and the ref will save Froch from himself.
