Do you really think Groves v DeGale II will be big enough to fill Wembley by 2016

Probably a stadium fight in some shape or form. Remember Mitchell fought Katsidis at Upton Park and Calzaghe fought Peter Manfredo Junior at the Millennium Stadium. I would be surprised if it did the same numbers as Froch - Groves but could see 30-40k in attendance especially with a strong undercard.

I'm thinking 40,000 would be a good and more realistic result

This will be hyped like mad and I know some will moan at this, but with an undercard of popular fighters it could easily do the numbers. AJ vs Whyte or Chisora on the undercard would boost the number big time as you would have two local lads in a pretty big fight, casuals are all over AJ plus some bigger boxing fans are pretty big on him too. You just need to get as many local lads as possible on the card and I think it could fill Wembley.

They could probably have two fights in the meantime I suppose, because you'd probably be looking at this time next year given the weather needed for an arena fight.

They'd both have to be in with name fighters. I think Hearn has the right idea looking at Kessler/ Bute for DeGale, which should be easy enough fights and build his profile. I would imagine he'd have to face a madatory too before hand which I'd guess would be Gilberto Ramirez.

For this two happen at Wembley next summer not only does groves need to win but they both will need to defend there Belts more than likely once each twice in degales case. I can see one of them losing in the meantime

Perhaps, but I reckon they will choose opponents wisely.

What's that 60,000...still think maybe too big.

Stamford Bridge is more realistic in my opinion

Wembley should not be talked about this soon. Aiming quite that high before Groves even has a title and Degale has even defended his title would alienate people. Of course it is going to be a big fight but until Groves actually beats Jack (we don't have a date or location yet, but it seems set to go) and Degale has his mandatory and cash earning defence out of the way then who knows. It all depends how the public respond and if imagination can be captured - how Groves and Degale fight and are received. Groves has a big London following which is noticable wherever you walk around in London, so if he can win a world title he has a platform to work on. Degale, he has a world title and the world at his feet so needs to win over the fans through performances. Wembley could be a possibility, but it's more of a dream and ideal scenario for the people that would benefit rather than a reality at this point.

Am not so sure about a Wembley fight but at Stamford Bridge or somewhere like that. Plus everyone knows the build up would be crazy for this fight!

It's going to happen in front of 80.000 creaming fans.

I watched Froch Groves II live at Wembley and spent the entire fight looking up at the big screens from my seat. Pointless. Stadium boxing is a rubbish sporting spectacle save for the few lucky people ringside who can see whats going on.

'New Wembley' is a horrendous soulless stadium at the best of times even for sold out football matches the atmosphere is dire and you are miles away from the action. Multiply that tenfold for boxing where you're watching two blokes having a fight in the centre circle.

The Froch Groves II fight was enough confirmation for me that I wouldn't ever pay to watch boxing in a stadium again. That includes Khan Brook, Froch Golovkin, Fury Klitschko, Degale Groves II you name it.

I'd love to see those four fights and would probably pay ppv to watch all four but wouldn't pay to sit in a plastic seat at Wembley to watch on their big screen tv drinking £5 carling or whatever, just to tell people 'I was there'. I might as well not have been there.

I suspect this is the bit of the equation that everybody is overlooking when they casually throw out the line of a matchup being 'a Wembley fight'. 80,000 people fell for the hype as was a historic first fight at the new Wembley blah blah etc big event to be a part of, but I'd imagine 78,000 people left feeling competley dissatistied by the viewing spectacle and I'd question if there are another 78,000 queuing up to watch boxing in Wembley the next time.

It seems Eddie Hearn is working off the over simplistic assumption that he's filled Wembley before, he'll do it again, without taking the time to realise that the majority of people who went wouldn't bother going again.

I disagree, I was there also and I found the atmosphere to be very good, better than almost any football match I have been to. I think you will find a lot of people really enjoyed the night and would go back again, however that is just a gauge off twitter reactions at the time but I certainly would do it again.

Absolutely spot on, I was there too and looking back really wish I wasn't, boxing just isn't right for a stadium event no matter how good "80,000 fans sound" went to Joshua's first ever pro fight at the 02 and that was a much better night
