I think both Jerry ad Tim deserve it. Do Oscar Bonavena and George Chuvalo deserve it too? Oscar performed better vs Joe Frazier and Ali than did Jerry,...and Chuvalo......

If Arthuro Gatti and Pipino Cuevas were inducted into the HOF, than Quarry should certainly be inducted too.

I think that for a non lineal champion to get in, they should be truly exceptional in that category, i.e Sam Langford.

Lot of guys are in that don't deserve to be there. Bowe being one of them.

Joe Calzaghe got in on his first ballot.

I'm not sure how the Hall of Fame panel comes up with its strange decisions.

Yes. Witherspoon was a three time champion. He belongs by the standards

Quarry is a harder sell, but he would not be the worst heavyweight enshrined.

I think they're both borderline cases, but ones without a truly solid claim. Rid**** Bowe's induction was earned by virtue of the fact that he was never stopped and only beaten once by an ATG whom he ultimately beat twice. Its possible that both Quarry and Witherspoon have a bit more depth in their win columns, but neither has a victory as colossal as beating Holyfield, and both were also defeated by lesser men where as Bowe wasn't.

Witherspoon wasn't a three-time champion. He won a vacant WBC belt against Page and he won a WBA belt by edging Tubbs in a battle of the bellies.

    There was no third.

I didn't think Bowe deserved to get in. Although, he did beat a true Hall of Famer in Holyfield twice (and arguably could've won the second fight, too - since he outlanded Evander by 100 punches) ... scoring one knockout over Holyfield.

Witherspoon never beat anyone in the Hall of Fame. On top of that, he said he took a dive in losing the title to Bonecrusher Smith. Not exactly Hall of Fame calibre heart there.

Quarry edged Patterson in the WBA tourney. But he lost to all the other Hall of Famers in fairly convincing fashion.

I'd vote NO for Quarry and Spoon. And, if you know who voted for Bowe, I'd like to punch each one of them in the arm and ask them what they were thinking.

Well, if you delete both Golota fights from his resume, I guess he wasn't defeated by a lesser man.

Golota did more than beat Bowe, he ruined him permanently. Golota deserved to be DQed, for using Bowe's testicles as a speed bag, but saying he was only beaten once by an all-time great is just a technicality. The truth is he was beaten to a pulp (with head shots) and had his career ruined by a guy who wasn't all that great.

I know some people who vote. In boxing, heavyweights get in a bit easier. If there were another sport, other positions might not get in as easily.

No love for the NABF? Okay, two it is.

At the time of his second title victory, Witherspoon joined Floyd Patterson and Muhammad Ali as the only fighters to win multiple world heavyweight championships.

There are a few in the Hall of fame who said they took a dive. Jack Johnson, And Jake LaMotta come to mind.

    I'd vote yes for 'Spoon

Bowe was better then both Witherspoon and Quarry... Overall he didn't end up being consistently great but even when showing up less then his best it was usually enough for him to get the win against decent opposition the same can not be said for Witherspoon or Quarry.. Also Bowe at the peak of his career was about as good as anyone. Both Quarry and Witherspoon were very good at their peaks but I don't think either could handle Bowe when on top of his game. The legendary fights with Holyfield do a lot to earning Bowe a spot in the hall a fame. Neither Witherspoon or Quarry were able to come up big when they faced a great champion. Witherspoon you could make an argument for because he captured a number of world titles but if you ask me he didn't have enough big wins overall and had too many bad losses to get his place in the HOF...

That's the crux of the issue.

    ,
Technicality or not. There was no loss there.
