Middleweight is ***** of division to rank and where Greb sits is just as tricky. He is well and truly entrenched in the top 10 light heavy rankings. Christmas past he would have been an automatic choice for no1 or no2 at least but I don't know now.
Haha, what??? Try the exact opposite, dude. The GOAT was a huge WW. Sugar Ray Robinson was 5 foot 11 inches tall. Compared to his MW opponents? Three inches taller than LaMotta. Three inches taller than Fullmer. Four and a half inches taller than Basilio. Four inches taller than Graziano. One and a half inches taller than Turpin. Half an inch taller than Olson. Compared to contemporary MW's? Half an inch taller than Golovkin. Four inches taller than Cotto. One inch taller than Geale. Same height as Quillin. Three inches shorter than Lee. One and a half inches taller than Lemieux. Compared to fellow ATG MW's? Three inches taller than Greb. One and a half inches taller than Hagler. Half an inch shorter than Monzon. Two inches shorter than Hopkins.
For most people this comes down to Hagler or Monzon. I think including Robinson in the poll was a clever red herring. Robinson may have been the greatest welterweight of all time and the greatest overall pound for pound, but he wasn't the greatest middleweight.
True I posted on the Classic asking what they thought of GGG and to my surprise a fair few of the old timers said he wouldnt be out of his depth with those guys
Why would you need to ask such a silly question? He beat infinitely better opponents. Golovkin would have to keep what he's doing up until he were 50 to match him, no exaggeration. There is a reason why you won't find a remotely serious opinion who ranks Golovkin in the top 10 all time at MW. You cannot.
I saw Monzon at the time remember. How many of these people giving 'opinions' can say that? Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one! Name Monzons best opponents. Then ask yourself- would GGG have beaten them too?
