    1. That is just unrealistic. That is like expecting Wladimir's opponents to say, "yes, I am realistic that I will lose every round tomorrow night" at the weigh in. It's like if Freddie Roach had said, "no, I am not very confident in Khan's punch resistance for this fight" before the Garcia fight... I don't know what you all expect him to say.

    2. I do obviously agree with your assessment of Cotto's contradictory and delusional assessment of where Golovkin and Geale are in their careers. However, see statement #1. We don't live in a dream world, folks.

    3. This is what I'm saying. You are defending weak mandatory defenses from certain fighters but I highly doubt you will always defend every single mandatory defense of every fighter.

    4. Uchiyama has been top dog at 130 for years now. I'm not upset about his title reign one bit, I'm a fan, but by the way people discuss other great fighters (in this case Cotto) he should be ripped apart by those same people. I just pulled up his boxrec because of course I couldn't name some of these guys... Were Angel Granados, Roy Mukhlis, Jaider Parra, Israel Perez, and Jomthong Chuwatana all great ranked contenders?! Imagine if Cotto fought someone on that level.

    5. I believe Golovkin does want to fight Cotto also. But that doesn't mean anything to the points I've made in regards to him choosing Monroe and how Monroe was deemed an acceptable and to some diehard Golovkin fanatics (who are the ones most negatively focusing on Cotto's opponent choice) even a great opponent. That is a double standard.

This guy grew up in a U.S. territory and speaks the language so poorly. GGG's fourth language is English and he speaks it better than Cotto's who's second is English.

Ironic how Golvkin's trainer said pretty much the same thing about Lara as Cotto is saying about GGG.

I like Golovkin but he should pick on someone his own size

    Cotto already paid his dues

Golovkin should take on Froch and become a star in that way

I think hes more than capable of beating Froch

Its one thing to understand the business side of boxing, its another to not still call fighters on their bull****.

If that means calling out everyone, then so be it. That its accepted by many, and has precedence, shouldn't excuse it. Vocal fans and media who want to see the best fight the best are great levees in the sport, and believe it or not they do indeed do a small part in shining light on these situations and keeping them in semi check to a small degree. Once the public just starts totally accepting this type of action, by not speaking up on it, the more accepted it becomes. Its why I don't understand the negative reaction to fans at least trying to hold champions to certain standards. It has nothing to do with understanding that a multi millionarre several times over is approaching boxing with a business mindset.... it has to do with trying to keep the balance of honest, fair competition (the true number one contender for years now actually getting his shot, and not having fighters disgrace a division), and the obvious business side of it.

Boxing has always been a mix of business and competition. Cotto is going and has gone past the reasonable zone and is totally off into pure business mindset with no creedance at all to honest competition, and is polluting the division and sport with it.

Im glad there are still enough fans to call fighters out when they leave that zone where business and competition mix and instead totally sell out for the sake of making a little more money, and in doing so disgrace the sport.

Ducking Golovkin to fight a guy he literally just disposed of in 3 rounds, all the while questioning G's resume, is a disgrace imo.

Yeah Golovkin seems like a really exceptional talent and he can take on bigger guys

Thats what great fighters do in many instances

    They fight bigger guys

And you fans that think Cotto should be able to hold a lineal title hostage and be able to do what he wants with the division because 'he paid his dues' are whats wrong with this sport.

Cotto has every right to fight who he wants to fight if he drops the belt, and guess what, fights against Canelo and Mayweather would still be blockbuster hits regardless..... but at soon as you take the responsibility of being a champion then you should be held to a standard, no matter who you are. And the fans that think otherwise, hurt this sport.

then you shouldn't say he should pick on someone his own size. in many instances great fighters also clean out their divisions, unify and claim lineal titles before fighting bigger guys.

Difference being of course that Lara has NO relevance or resume at GGGs weightclass whereas GGG is the biggest name opponent there is for Cotto at 160 (should he choose to remain there) and his mandatory. I for one would actually quite like to see Lara vs GGG, but the situations aren't comparable.

If he decides to keep fighting other guys while holding the belt then I wouldn't be for that either

But hes trying to hold the belt and fight Canelo for one last hurrah

Thats why the WBC is letting him do this

And I think thats just fine

Cotto Canelo is BIG and better for boxing than Golovkin smashing Cotto in a complete mismatch
