Cracks me up the fans who's answer to fighters straight up swerving Golovkin isn't to hold those fighters accountable, but instead call out G to move to a division he shouldn't be at. You know you are working hard for an agenda when you don't call out the people who are ****ing up, but call out the guy getting ****ed over.
1.) I don't know what you are addressing in my post with this comment. 2.) :conf Sure, we don't live in a dream world. But if you're Cotto then don't make yourself look like an idiot by saying GGG hasn't earned a shot then a week later signing to fight his roadkill. 3.) You will be very hard pressed to find an instance of me criticizing fighters for taking their mandos... I can't remember a single instance of doing this in fact... especially when they are looking to fulfill an obligation so they can free themselves up for bigger fights. 4.) Granados was a soft touch. But in his first year as champ Uchiyama took on a top 5 rated contender in Mukhils and a badass mother*****er in Miura. In Cotto's first year as champ he has sat on the belt and fought once against a guy who got KO'd by the man considered his biggest threat after saying the man himself 'hasn't done enough'. 5.) I didn't love the Monroe fight by any stretch but look at the availability of the top guys at the time and then tell me who he should have fought. If you fight 4 times a year they can't all be top 10 guys.
:good Cotto had been my favorite active fighter since the Torres fight, but his diva attitude when it comes to making fights recently has really put me off. At this point, GGG has taken Cotto's spot on my favorites list and should the two meet, GGG would batter him.
So did Ray Robinson "run like a coward from" Charley Burley or what? Or only when it fits your argument do you make dramatic claims and pretend to be ignorant to boxing business and history? Sh*t happens.
Yeah, demands for any fighter to change divisions because the fans want or think they should is ridiculous.
Come on, kirk. You act like you are new to boxing and that this hasn't been done before. Do you hold every #1 rated titlist in every division to those standards? I think not. And if you do, you better start speaking up equally in regards to them as you are here.
I'm not defending anyone. As always, my goal is to point out double standards. In my opinion, double standards among fans are ruining the sports' reputation and this forums' worth/reputation.
Well I mean Cotto is significantly smaller that Golovkin Cotto isn't a real middleweight in my opinion
Oh okay. Well in my opinion the examples you used are nothing like what Cotto is saying. I don't like double standards either and if you can find examples of me applying a different standard to other fighters in a similar situation then feel free. I have said many times that if I were Cotto there is no way in hell I'd fight GGG, I just wouldn't say the things he's said...
Like ive said repeatedly, this is life, and in life precedence doesn't excuse actions... period. And yes I hold every lineal champion to the same standards, most don't sell out as bad as Cotto has though. And if it isn't obvious, Golovkin probably has the most threads started about him out of any fighter other then MayPac... so obviously, I will be talking about him more then other fighters. As always in life, you can be on one side of the issue or the other. Some people choose to at least try to be vocal about holding champions to standards, and it has absolutely nothing to do with a lack of understanding of business. Others will not only defend it, but criticize the people who are trying to shine light on it and call fighters out on it. I can understand not being vocal about it. I can. I can understand maybe even siding with Cotto (barely), but what I cant understand, is not just being silent on it, not just siding with Cotto on it, but flat out criticizing the fans trying to speak out for standards within the sport.
