Does Froch have more to lose than to gain by fightng Golovkin?

That's what is disappointing. After Froch beat Groves in the second, it showed that he still has it. GGG is the new destroyer on the block and has pretty much cleared out the Middleweight division. He is the real deal and has the power and size to go up to SM. Froch is still a force to be reckoned with.

It will be a great fight.

 

Don't you mean bona fide number 1? Even if you include Ward's next fight he technically wouldn't have fought at 168 since 2012.....against a drained Chad Dawson

 

He has no unbeaten record to maintain or a belt so he can only gain.

Froch only interested in a large Wonga fight and he gets that fighting Golovkin.

 

He has to lose the perfect way to end his career. By knocking out George Groves at Wembley in front of 80,000 people :nod

 

Agree with this. Froch isn't undefeated, but he is respected for the fights he takes and he will be respected for being the first elite fighter to face Golovkin when nobody else looked like they wanted to.

Furthermore, it will make him a lot of money.

If he does get stopped, it will be devastasting but he also goes into the fight knowing that nobody has stopped him yet (and he has faced some hard hitters) and that GGG is a smaller man.

 

What if GGG lands one of his killer shots in Froch's *******. What's he gonna do about Rachael :bart

 

Froch is the biggest hype job in history.

He should just retire & get over with it

Froch was apparently a crude slugger who wasn't going to achieve much. You do realise we are in the era of the likes of Broner and Ortiz

 

GGG does not have a knock out punch (For Froch anyway) he may beat him in a close fight, but either way I don't see Froch losing any credibility by doing what he has always done and taking the biggest fights.. Now were he to say no to it and fight someone else down the line, that I would not like!!

 

Broner is the real deal.

If he loses it's "Ah well he's at the end of his career, he still a warrior fighting the best out there and lost to a special fighter".

If he wins it would be huge because GGG's stock and hype is high right now. Beating him would add to Froch's legacy.

 

If he wins he only beats a largely unproven blown up middleweight. :think

 

Although that's one way it can be spun (and it's sort of true), that's not the way things tend to work with Froch. People tend to view his fights in a positive light.

When he beat Bute it wasn't "he beat a hypejob",
when he beat Taylor it wasn't "he beat a MW who is past it"
When he beat Abraham it wasn't "he beat a limited MW"
When he beat Groves it wasn't "he beat a chinny nobody who most expected him to walk through" etc, etc.

Froch gets more credit than many boxers. Probably because he is limited and people have lower expectations of him.

If Froch beats GGG people will think of it more like "even in the twilight of his career Froch continued his warrior ways by fighting and beating the most feared man in boxing" or something like that. Most people will probably ignore the fact that GGG is a middleweight and hasn't beaten anyone special.

 

Look at it this way:

-He could retire now happy
-He could beat Golovkin and retire happy
-He could lose to Golovkin and retire unhappy.

So that's why I think he has more to lose
