I find it highly amusing that a lot of the forum dwellers on here are picking Geale to beat Cotto, so as somebody who has followed Geales Career I feel it is my duty to educate you. Geale was undefeated fighting Aussie bums and Thai & Fijian cab drivers, one almost stopped Geale in his 12th fight his name was Noy Noy Gonzalez and he dropped Geale twice in the second round. At 28 years of age Geale lost to a past his best 35 year old Mundine who dropped Geale in the second round. Geale carried on like a sore loser the went on to fight a string of bums until he got rated high enough by the IBF and fought an eliminator against a shot 38 year old blown up light middleweight in Karmazin which he won by a 12th round stoppage. This made Geale the mandatory for the worst champion of all time Sylvester, Geale managed to s****e by him in a split decision, he was very lucky as the Aussie commentary team had scored the fight to Sylvester. Following this he went on to make a bogus title defence against Albert who was coming off a first round KO loss to Kirkland, Geale went life and death with Albert in his hometown of Tasmania earning a unanimous decision. Next Geale had his Mandatory against Adama another fight in Geales hometown where he went life & death with Adama winning a close decision. After this Geale went back to Germany to fight Sturm in an unification fight which most ringside observers scored for Sturm but Geale received a gift decision and the WBA title. Geale was then supposed to fight Golovkin but instead relinquished his title to fight a injured 39 year old Mundine in which Geale won a unanimous decision. Geale continued to duck Golovkin and instead fought the inactive B level Darren Barker who defeated Geale for his paper title. Geale then continued to duck Golovkin and went on to fight ex footballer Garth Wood. After defeating Wood Geale tried to fight Macklin in order to avoid Golovkin again, this fight got cancelled and Geale had no other choice but to finally face Golovkin. Geale fought scared and quit at the first opportunity he got. Next Geale fought his sparring partner Fletcher who outboxed Geale in the early rounds until Geale took over and won a decision. These are the facts, Geale has a glass jaw and is a quitter, the only big puncher Geale has ever faced was Golovkin and he made easy work of Geale, I am expecting Cotto to stop Geale within 5 rounds.
I can't wait for you to be proved wrong and end up looking like a flaming maniac with egg on your face.:yep
You know some of us watch boxing, right? And we know that none of what you typed is true, except for the names of the fighters and dates.
A similar story can be written about Cotto after he moved up to 154. His record at 154 and above is pathetic.
Dude, you don't like Geale we get it. Just at the moment some of us aren't too hot on Cotto either :conf
Cotto quit against a welterweight and the OP thinks that Hulk Hogan really powerslammed Andre the Giant against his will. Geale is going to cause you a hernia one day sport.
Hey, MidnightProwler, you aren't maybe Mundine incognito, are you? Because if you are, it's kind of daft to pull down a fighter that you lost to. Just saying.
I thought Geale beat Sylvester easy enough, didn't go life and death with Adama, beat Mundine first time - and schooled him second time around (really made an example of Mundine's sloppy footwork). Also, there was more money in a Mundine rematch - than there would of been to fight Golovkin. No boxer in the world would've given up a big pay day, and an easy fight (in Mundine) - to instead fight GGG, which would've been low $$ and very high risk.
Anthony Mundine another ''tough guy'' who ran in the opposite direction from Golovkin at a 1000 miles a hour like Golovkin had Ebola and the bubonic plague at the same time. 5.4.2010 LOS ANGELES, CA A purse bid was held yesterday at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, NV for the rights to promote the battle for the Vacant WBA Middleweight Title between top-ranked Anthony Mundine (38-3, 23 KOs) and #2-rated Gennady Golovkin (18-0, 15 KOs). And the winner was California-based Epic Sports Management, Inc. (ESMI) which -- with a top bid of $1,210,000 will promote the event in association with Bob Arums Top Rank, Inc. Ivaylo Gotzev, advisor to Golovkin, said: I am delighted to announce that, finally, my fighters long-awaited shot at the WBA Middleweight Title is set with Epic Sports Management, Inc. -- in association with Bob Arums Top Rank, Inc. -- winning the purse bid. According to Gotzev, Mundine has a short window of time to sign the contract to take on the undefeated native of Kazakhstan, who now resides and fights out of Big Bear, CA. Gotzev admitted concern as to whether Mundine, an icon in his home country of Australia, will put his name on the dotted line because an expected bid by Mundines promoter never materialized. Mundine probably realized the power and skills that Golovkin will bring to the fight, Gotzev theorized of the purse bid snub by Mundines representation. Now hes got 48 hours or so to sign the contract. The boxing business, especially now, is about true warriors fighting each other. You can no longer use your #1 spot to avoid a deserving boxer from fighting for a title. It is now the moment of truth and weve thrown our gloves in the ring to take on the top-ranked challenger in Mundine. Not only has Gotzev and Golovkin issued the challenge to Mundine, they want it so badly that they insisted the fight take place in Mundines homeland of Australia sometime in late July in the hopes he will agree to sign the contract. We are planning to take this fight Down Under to Australia where Mundine has been something of a superstar, Gotzev revealed. We did this to leave no doubt that we will fight Mundine on his home turf and win the title in Australia, if he decides to show up. We are so not concerned about going Down Under, in fact, we love it! We dont care if we fight Mundine in his backyard and let his family be the judges. When Gennady Golovkin hits him with either hand, nothing else will matter. He will knock Mundine out! 'In early May, Epic Sports along with Top Rank put in the winning purse bid of $1.2 million to stage the fight for the vacant WBA middleweight title between Anthony Mundine of Australia and Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan. Felix Sturm is the WBA "super" champion at middleweight. Golovkin (18-0, 15KOs) tells allboxing.ru that Mundine has refused to go through with the fight under any circumstances. "He wanted the fight to take place in Australia, under their television and under his terms and even after I accepted those terms, it was still the same thing - he refused to take the fight," Golovkin said. After informing the WBA about Mundine's decision, the organization gave him permission to challenge any fighter within their top ten rankings for the vacant title. Golovkin's team have sent letters to every fighter in the top ten and are waiting for replies. "After the termination of these negotiations, a letter was written to the World Boxing Association, in which we stated the situation, and they replied that we have the right to reach an agreement with any boxer from the WBA's top ten rankings to fight for the vacant title. We practically, at the same time, dispatched offers to almost every boxers from the top ten and we look forward to hearing from them," Golovkin said.'
Geale is a solid talent at MW BUT loses his composure st times, often fighting right into the gameplan of his opposition. Fact is....he's beaten several top 30s and a couple top 10s. He a 2 times and former unified champion and will be Cottos best W over the WW limit
