Damn, 2 fights at MW and Cotto is fighting top 5 competition. You have to give the man props. He's a shot, damaged goods WW making moves and making money. Can't hate on him for that. Meanwhile, GGG is still waiting to eat off Cotto's plate instead of getting food for himself.
Not sure what you mean. After getting embarrassed by Trout, Cotto moved up and knocked out the lineal MW champ in an easy fight. After a year lay off, guy's fighting a top 5 MW aka GGG's best opponent, then looking for a super fight with Canelo. The man already has a better resume than GGG at MW.
Every time you start moving towards becoming a respectable poster you go and do something like this... :conf At least you learned who DeGale was last week, step in the right direction
You cannot argue against it. Cotto is a shot to ****, damaged goods WW who got stopped by Pac, almost knocked out by Mayweather, and embarrassed by Trout in his hometown. Despite all of these things, the man still managed to rise up to the occasion and stop Martinez after Martinez called him out. Now after a year lay off and change from promoters, he's fighting a top 5 MW and looking up to set up a superfight with Canelo. You simply cannot argue against this. He's making moves, getting busy and making money, fighting world class opponents despite clearly being past best. Just because I'm not mad at Cotto for beating up Martinez when he wasn't supposed to and not fighting GGG doesn't mean I should jump on the hate bandwagon like the rest of these fanboys.
I don't hate Cotto and never have. I used to be a huge fan but the way he's been acting in interviews lately has been annoying. So beating a shot Martinez who didn't deserve the decision against Martin Murray and Daniel Geale would give him a better resume at MW than GGG? Just stop trolling. You didn't know who DeGale was before he beat Dirrell so I don't expect you to have ever heard of any of the names on GGG's resume either.
I have a feeling GGG will get the winner of Cotto/Canelo which should happen in Sept, (as long as Cotto beats Geale). GGG just has to stay patient a little while longer. I suspect the opponent will be Canelo hopefully by this early Spring.
And everyone needs to stop this "Cotto is a WW" nonsense. When GGG and Cotto were 18 they were both fighting at 140. Go check Cotto's unofficial weights. He was coming in at 157 as a JWW in 2005. When you weight drain at WW for 3 years and then move up to a more natural weight you are no longer a WW. He hasn't fought at WW in 6 years. You can say he may be a natural JMW at this point, but he'll never be able to make WW again.
oh but i know ggg resume really good and its poor! :-( i love miguel and im puertorican but he its not a 160 fighter!
I've never said GGG's resume is great, show me one instance where I have said that. What I just said was that if Cotto beats Geale his resume at 160 will obviously not be better than GGG's... No sane person who is not trolling can argue that.
im a 100% with you!! drop the belt and fight for canelos belt and make the money! but this its boxing and they want canelo to win a belt at 160! its a win win situation for ggg! both fighthers will be the best earning fight for ggg and his people knows it :deal
:good Hopefully the eventual GGG-Cotto or GGG-Canelo fight for the "lineal MW title" won't be at some special Cottelo/Canelotto catchweight of 156.48 lbs
